At loose ends ((Open RP, Mello, Halls))

So, that samurai has canceled our lessons without explaining anything as to why. I know damn well it's not because he's satisfied with my progress. Something's going on here. I have a couple of hunches, but without sufficient evidence, none of them is any more likely than any other ( Read more... )

Kuronue saw him from down the hall. Hands in the pockets of the rather pretty jacket the Baron had given him a while ago, he made his way towards Mello. "Hey you," he said, putting on his happy face. He hadn't seen the blond in a while. Maybe he could cheer him up a little.

I turn away from the tapestry and raise my eyebrow. "Aren't you looking dandy?" I say. "I suppose you have to look the part, being a daimyou's pet, don't you?"

"You're just jealous because its real leather." He raised a hand and smoothed it over the breast of the jacket, grinning.

He wanted to avoid talking about Yukimura though, otherwise he knew he'd just get angry and, really, Mello didn't deserve his anger. SO he said nothing on being his pet, though he wanted to say that it was actually the other way around. It made him think of how Yukimura had been bound and left to die.

I snort, though it's unusual he didn't say anything about that samurai is kind of telling. I wonder if I give enough of a damn to say anything about it. "You wouldn't know real leather if it bit your ass."

His eyebrows went up. "Shall I admit that you're the better leather daddy then? Will that make you happy?" He gave a mock sneer and began to walk away, tilting his head a little in an invite for Mello to tag along.

I really should ignore the invitation, but the look in his eyes makes me think that probably wouldn't be a good idea. "You know it. Clothing and otherwise," I say, falling into step with him.

"Hah!" He didn't sound convinced and he chuckled a little.

"What hole have you been hiding in, I haven't seen you around in a while." He looked down at Mello, raising an eyebrow. He tried real hard to not think of Mello in some of that interesting human fetish gear he'd seen.

Not that it was like he wasn't already waltzing around looking like a wet dream anyway.

"I've been swamped but found myself free recently." Between the look in his eye before, not saying anything about the samurai and the look in his eye now, I probably shouldn't ask, but if I don't I'll never get an answer and it's not my style to be 'polite.' "Gonna tell me why?" I ask, arching an eyebrow at him.

Ah, the dilemma. To tell or not to tell.

But Mello could be useful. Like it or not, the kid knew spells Kuronue did not. He could learn things from him. The details he could leave to Yukimura.

His eyes darted away. It took him a long moment to decide how to phrase it. "Karasu," was all he could manage in the end. His name was spat, rather than uttered or hissed. The name had never been so black and filthy before.

I pause. "We already got rid of one psychopathic rapist," I say bitterly. I scowl. "Where is he? The bastard." It was only when I raised my hand that I realized I had my wand out.

Huh.

It was at this point in time he realised that he hadn't seen Apos in a while. It made him wonder. Had Kurama ended up going through with that plan of his?

Still, he reached out and gently pushed Mello's hand down. "While I appreciate it, this is my fight. Kurama has agreed to help me."

"It's not that simple," I say. "You can't kill him here, which is the only thing that would really end the threat." I slip my wand up my sleeve. "That and preventing his soul, or whatever the hell it is, from leaving his body so that it rots as well."

"Do you know how to do that?" he asked, an odd light appearing in his eyes. "Help me find a way. This can't keep happening. Our people are getting hurt and he's not been touched yet." And just thinking about what he'd done to Kuronue's mate made his instincts go just a little crazy.

He wanted to hunt him down and hurt him, kill him. Make him suffer as Kaga, Yukimura and Kurama had suffered. The countless others he'd affected too. They deserved their revenge.

But he would be the one to do it, even if hell froze over.

I'm not sure I'd trust him as far as I can throw him the way he's looking now, but better him than Karasu free. "I know it's theoretically possible. I don't know if the no kill spell affects it or not. I know it requires wards. I can't draw wards; I've tried, Kusu said I was hopeless and to focus on things I could do." I hate being told I can't do something. "So, we'll need either Kusu or maybe Matt." I haven't seen that hacker in a while, either... "There's a few more things I'll need to know and that you demons are fond of lying about."

Kuronue gave him a blank look. "I can't use wards. I'm kind of a demon myself."

He sighed. "But I stand a better chance than anyone else. I can deal with the pain better than anyone else, psychologically or otherwise. If the peddler or Matt can word around the ward thing...well that would be great."

He slipped his hands into his pockets. He didn't want to answer questions, especially if Mello thought he would evade them straight off. "What do you want to know?"

"Kusu's a demon and uses wards," I point out. "Though, I think I'd rather talk to Matt about the wards. I'm not sure if Kusu thinks I'm an idiot or blood thirsty and Matt knows me better."

I look around, sliding my hands in my pockets. "I'm sure you don't want to go far," I say, since we're in Slytherin hall, "but, do you really want to talk here?"
