((OOC: NSFW - China's mun puts forward a warning: There will be Smut! Crowd roars. I, personally, didn't see that coming. But come on, Kuronue is in it. Speaks for itself.))

It was eight in the morning and the air was crisp and cool. China was sitting at one of the room-length tables reading the Daily Prophet. Beside her was a plate with three ( Read more... )

Hagrid lumbered into the Great Hall, having tired of his own and Turlough's cooking. He hadn't been around much lately, tending as he did to his groundskeeper duties. So it wasn't surprising when he spotted the woman sitting alone and didn't recognize her. He did recognize the newspaper, though. Not that it was worth reading, most of the time, but it had been a while since he'd seen anyone *else* reading it.

"Dragon tournament, eh?" he rumbled by way of greeting, having caught a glimpse of what she was reading as he passed her. "Have yeh ever been ter one o' those? They can be great fun, if a wee bit bloody an' violent fer some tastes."

"I can't say I have," she smiled, finding this semi-giant adorable. "It certainly sounds entertaining. What with all the blood, I wouldn't know what to wear that wouldn't get ruined." She chuckled.

"Least there's Scourgify," Hagrid said amiably. "Cleans up blood spatters quite nicely. An' yeh could always sit at the back o' the crowd, wi' one o' them omniocular thingies. Watch the spectacle that way an' yeh won't have ter worry about splatter." He extended a hand the size of a dinner plate. "Rubeus Hagrid. Groundskeeper."

China smiled and took his hand, "China Sorrows, Slytherin." She gestured to the table. "Would you like to join me for breakfast?"

"Don' mind if I do, at that," hagrid said amiably, proceeding to take up half the table as he sat down. Immediately, some house elves sprang into action, bringing him enough food to sustain an army for some time. This Hagrid commenced to inhale.

"How are yeh likin' Hogwarts so far?" he asked around a mouthful of saussage.

China shrugged a delicate shoulder. She folded up the Daily Prophet and placed it beside her toast. "Its been nice. Some hardships have come and gone, but really, I shouldn't think life would get better in school," China chuckled.

"However, so far its been productive. I intend to redecorate my dorm room, though. I find it very draughty and in a boring green and silver motif. Not to say I am unpatriotic to my House."

Hagrid nodded. "No reason yeh should be loyal ter yer house," he noted. "Yeh don' look like the typical student, so yeh were probably brought 'ere. How do yeh plan to redecorate?" Being the kind of guy who lived in a hut and found exotically dangerous magical creatures fascinating, it was safe to assume he didn't really care. But he was nothing if not a polite and friendly fellow.

She knew no man who looked like Hagrid had any particular interest in the decorative whims of a woman. She spared him the specifics. "I was thinking earthly colours, perhaps a Victorian era motif. Browns, reds, and mauve. Things like that." China smiled, having a sip of her tea.

"Just trying to bring some of home, here." She shrugged, finding it somewhat sappy.

"Ah." Hagrid nodded. "Where is home, then?"

((Sorry--I've been busy. I hate that I gave you such a crap tag. Hopefully the next one will suck less.))

"I come from Dublin, Ireland. Not sure if you'd know about it here? Where ever here is," she chuckled, blushing from embarrassment. She hated feeling stupid.

((No, that's cool! I've been busy myself lately, all's good.))
