(ooc: V is taken from about halfway through Lover Unbound, just before he meets Jane. I don't think he'd survive long parted from Jane, so i'd rather not part them - again. :D)

V wasn’t as surprised as most people would be when they open their bedroom door and suddenly they aren’t in what should have been their bedroom. An expression of recognition ( Read more... )

China had been reading Dumbledore's copy of Hogwarts: A History again, when something tipped her off about a new person. The air became different, and then she laid eyes on a new table and chair, application flat on the surface and quill resting peacefully beside it. Then he appeared. She eyed him with her pale eyes.

China had undergone another wardrobe change. She had put her red silk dress and green ensemble to rest, and now wore a white pin-striped shirt under a deep red cotton vest, the shirt's sleeves rolled to her elbow, the cuff's unbuttoned and flaring outward. Her wide legged pants were also pin-striped and her presence was announced by the black high heels. Her raven-black hair was up in a clip.

She inspected Vishous' application dubiously. On first seeing him she had to admit to feeling wary. His tattoos had come across sinister and his gate reminded her of vampires. Nasty things, vampires. But as she finished reading his application she now saw him as a questionable lad, with mother issues and a penchant for compensation--what with all the weapons, and such--she couldn't help herself but find him juvenile. She smiled at him in a belittling way.

She snapped the book shut and held it under her arm. She extended her hand in welcome, "Hello Vishous, I am China Sorrows. Another applicant. A pleasure."

Hm. What a fine example of a female.

He stepped forward and shook her hand, even though vampires tended not to shake hands. "A pleasure to meet you, China," he said, looking through her rather than at her. His prescience warned him to be on his guard around her, and so he didn't start laying on the charm as he normally would when presented with a female like her. "Call me V," he said, reiterating himself.

"Of course," she nodded. She took her hand back, because frankly, regardless of his psychological ineptitude's, he was still vampire.

Her eyes caught sight of the medallion and they widened, like a child's on christmas day, though her reaction was calmer than any four-year-old's. She gravitated to the desk, and picked it up, letting the chain fall through her fingers. "Lovely item. What circa?"

He tried not to wince and pulled out a hand rolled from one of his pockets, lit it, and placed it between his lips. "It's not circa anything really, since it's from the Scribe Virgin's realm." His realm too, he thought. He rubbed at his temple, took a deep drag of the cigarette between his lips and blew the smoke away from her. "Beginning of time, maybe."

She nodded. "Has it always been in your possession?" She put the book down on the desk, taking the medallion in both hands, thoroughly amazed. If it was from a different realm, could it pertain magic?"

"It came into my possession recently," he said. She was welcome to have it, he didn't want it anyway. "'Pertain' magic? No, not really, the only thing magical about it is that it's been in the hands of a goddess. It's just a medallion of status. Marks the Primale of the Chosen."

Having magical value only slightly increased an items price, but it was still gold and from another realm, and she knew buyers that would pay through the nose to get it. She smiled and nodded. "I see. I accept your bribe, Mr. Vishous--V," she added. She seized the medallion in her hand and pocketed it. She picked up her book and faced V. "It was a pleasure meeting you. I'm sure out paths will cross again, people of your.... standards usually rear their heads again."

She moved closer to Vishous, until she was a polite distance yet still intimately close. "I hope you don't get lost, Mr. Vishous. It is a big place for such a damaged psyche." She smirked, and started away to her own application.
