"Okay, this is like high school all over again," she said, pained smile glued to her face. "Confident, Codex. Be Codex." She gathered herself up, not very impressively. "Y-you should vote me in because--wait. Why do I even care? I don't know where the hell I am. And you know what?" She was beginning to work herself into a fine, nerdly fury now. "I don't need you to tell me that I'm good enough. Because I'm interesting to myself, and that's what matters. Even if... even if I do stay home and play online a lot instead of doing other stuff."
As a speech of self-defense, it wasn't great.
