Aoi was quick to discover that Hogwarts was very...archaic. Of course the first thing he'd done was look for technology, and he'd come across the Compy Room. The jack that he pulled from his neck didn't match the USB port on any of the computers, so he'd set off in search of materials to make some.He'd at least like to see if he could still dive

"Now why would you kill a perfectly good computer?" Hell, if Ryuk couldn't troll on the compys, he might as well troll in real life.

Aoi was a little startled at the creature, and stared for a minute up (and up and up) at him, before looked back down to the computer. "We are incompatible. I am fixing that, then I will see if an internet connection is at all possible." Poor Aoi didn't know yet, but it was indeed impossible. It gave him something to do, at least, rather than sitting around and staring at walls.

"Heh, probably not," Ryuk said, leaning back. "This school has it's own version of the net, I think. Mainly for us students to screw around in. Besides, what do you mean compatible?"

"Mello said that too, but I want to try." He wasn't having much luck, at the moment, the compy had all the right parts, but was a model he hadn't seen before. he began to put it back together slowly. "My body is merely a shell, if I wanted I could dive into the computers and live there, independent of my body. But the plugs don't match. We are incompatible, for the moment at least."

"Oh, so that's why you have an insanely long lifespan, Aoi. Sucks to be you." Ryuk grinned at him.

Aoi paused and looked up at the creature, then narrowed his eyes a little. "What are you?" he asked. He'd seen some pretty unusual things so far, so there didn't seem to be any point to freaking out. His name he could have learnt from anyone who'd been at his sorting, but his lifespan?

There were only a few beings that could know that.

"My name is Ryuk. I'm a shinigami. Which means you're lucky we're here, or I'd kill you and take your lifespan."

Aoi frowned. "That's not very nice." Quite intimidating actually. He hadn't feared death in a long time.

[ringo_raver]

"Yeah, but it's the truth. You should be flattered, really." Only in Ryuk's world.

[catcherandrye]

"Sounds a little too much like a threat to be flattered," he said flatly. "But it's good to know I wont you wont kill me, Ryuk."

"Meh. You're lucky you heard it from me. There are a couple others here with eyes like mine, but they'd never say anything. Course, they're probably both insane by now, sooo...." Ryuk shrugged and pulled out an apple.

His eyebrows rose. "Insane?" Aoi got the feeling that Ryuk was a very nice person.

"Well, Mikami was always insane, thinking a kid with a Death Note was a god, but Soichiro, heh, if those eyes didn't drive him nuts, knowing his son's a killer probably did." That amused Ryuk.

"So...the eyes allow you to see lifespans?" He could see how that could be a little traumatising. Aoi seemed to be picking at the wrong things to ask about however. Weren't murderers more interesting than eyes?

Apparently not.

"Names and lifespans. I'd trade some to you, but you'd have to give up half your lifespan. Not to mention I'd have to give you my Death Note, and Mello would give me hell if I did that again."

Aoi was amused. He wouldn't have thought shinigami could do anything of the sort. Something Mello had said clicked. So the shinigami had caused all the trouble?

"You are afraid of Mello?" he asked, amused.
