A crazy man wearing butter-soaked liederhosen burst into the room. He spotted Rihana.

"Excooze, pretty lady, but haf you seen Vinston? He iss vhite pigeon, und he is lost. Vissout him, I am alone in zhe vorld!" He blinked back tears, chin wibbling.

Franz was the strangest thing to happen to Rihana on a very strange day. "Ah, can't say I have."

Franz would have torn out of there immediately, but the crate holding Rihana's rugs rattled. "Vhat is zhat? Haff you got Vinston in zhere?!" Furious, he ran for the crate. Which was, of course, closed.

It took Franz a moment to remember he had a wand and knew how to use it. He pulled it out of his liederhosen and pointed it at the crate. "Openen zie up!" The crate, not feeling up to challenging an angry German on pseudo-Latin spells, obliged. A rug flew out.

"Hey!" Rihana ran after the crazy man. If he got grease on her rugs, it was going to be scimitar time. "Careful! Flying carpets are very fragile, emotionally. If you get stains on them, they'll hide and refuse to fly." She gathered herself. "You can have one if you vote for me, but you'll need to clean up before it'll fly you anywhere."

It took Franz's not-entirely-sound brain a few moments to process the flying rug, what Rihana said, and the possibilities before a lightbulb went off over his head. "You say I can haff carpet for vote? Wunderbar!" He clasped his hands together. "I fly to find Vinston! You are nice lady. I vote for you in Hooflepoof!" He grabbed for the rug, which darted out of reach. "Oh, ja, vell--" He pointed his wand at himself. "Vhat vas it? Oh, ja--scourgify!"

A moment later, he was clean and on the flying carpet. "Fly! Fly, mein carpet, und ve find Vinston! Sank you, nice lady! I see you round, ja?" With a whirl of tassels, he was gone.

Rihana blinked. Well, at least she'd gotten a vote out of it . . .
