Methos stood and stretched his aching back. He had been hard at work since he left his chat with Olympia. After his dinner with Brienne, he had been contemplating a suitable gift to send to her and thanks to Oly, he had the perfect idea. He would send her something pratical, but beautiful. Sticking his head out the door, he called for a house elf.
“Take this to Brienne of Tarth over in Gryffindor, please.” He handed a simple wooden box to the elf that immediately scampered down the corridor. The immortal stretched a crick in his neck and turned back to his room. He had been hard at work for hours and he should probably do something about the mess..
The house elf found Brienne in Gryffindor tower easily and handed her the box. When asked, he’ll tell her where it came from.
Inside the box lay an elegantly crafted dagger. The handle was made of wrought silver, carved in intricate geometric designs, attractive but still serviceable. A fanciful dragon coiled around the pommel, trailing curls of smoke and fire. The blade was ten inches long and wickedly sharp. This was no ornamental blade, it was lovely, but would work well in a fight. The scabbard was crafted out of rich red leather and riveted with bronze. An intricate design had been tooled into the leather, it was the emblem of Gryffindor and below that, a gryffon curled itself around a B. It was apparent a fair amount of time and effort had gone into the design.
