After getting L to apologize to those he'd wronged, Matt took L back up to their room.

After shutting and warding their door, Matt peeled off his gloves and goggles, stroking L's face and kissing his cheeks.

"There, there, my love, it's all over, it's all over."

L leaned into Matt's touch, wrapping his arms loosely about him. He was exhausted, drained from the day. He closed his eyes. "You believe me now?" he asked.

"Yes, yes." Matt leaned in so he could pepper L's neck with kisses. "I do believe you."

L sighed. He curled his hands around Matt's sweater, stretching his neck a little. "I can't lose you again," he whispered.

"You won't, L. Not even popcorn will keep us apart. I love you far too much." And Matt sealed the deal with a kiss. "And I don't care who knows it, either."

L leaned into Matt, into the kiss. He needed the reassurance. Matt was one of the only ones who knew who he was and didn't care. Or, more he cared for L Lawliet and not L the detective or Ryuuzaki the alias.

Matt tried to pick up L, bear hug style.

Problem was that despite appearances, L was actually taller than Matt, so Matt didn't have the height to keep him upright.

So they both fell onto the bed, L on top of Matt.

L broke their kiss, startled to find himself on top of Matt all of the sudden. He blinked. "I made you that happy?" he asked, confused.

Matt winced, elbow to the stomach does that. "No, I just....I don't want to lose you either. I...I was being petty, L. I'm so sorry about that."

L shifted so that his arms were around Matt. He rested his head on Matt's shoulder a moment. "I think you were right," he said softly.

"But I let my anger get the better of me. I shouldn't have done that. Not to you."

L squirmed, pulling Matt with him, until his legs were not hanging off the edge of the bed. "You stayed with me," he said softly. "You didn't make me go alone, and you could have."

"I couldn't let you hurt more than you had to." Matt looked down. "But if I was anything like a decent boyfriend, I wouldn't have let you hurt in the first place."

L stroked Matt's face, moving so he could look at Matt again. It took him a moment to frame his answer because the thoughts behind it still stung. "I think you were more decent because you made me face it."

"Yeah, but still....I hurt you." Matt sighed. "I was still selfish, I just wanted everyone to get along."

L continued to look at Matt. "I love that about you," he said frankly. He moved closer and brushed his lips against Matt's. "You were right," he said again.

"If you say so." Matt hid his face in L's shoulder. "God, I love you," he said in a muffled voice.
