That New-Age therapy crap ((Open RP, Greenhouses))

Feb 14, 2009 18:41

After the first thousand years or so, Kurama found a way to control exhausting emotions like rage and hate and the like. Most of the time, he could cool down after a moment, probably following some bit of vengeful destruction, and move on.

Sometimes, however, it took more than just a little vengeful destruction.

In which a large amount of greenhouse two is methodically destroyed. )

Hiei appeared in the greenhouse without announcing his arrival. He didn't see any need to warn Kurama of his coming; if he didn't expect the demon to show up, then he was a fool.

"...I see you already know who's here," Hiei observed, glancing around at the destruction in the greenhouse. He pointedly ignored Kusuriyuri's presence, for the moment.

He would have been irritated any other day, but for now he was relieved. Karasu had no outspoken interest in Hiei, and Hiei knew how to take care of himself in either case, which was a heavy weight off of Kurama's mind.

"Yes," he replied at length. "I cannot say I'm terribly surprised that he is here, but I am also not happy about it."

"Of course not," Hiei spat, walking over to stand closer to Kurama. "If you were happy about his being here, you'd deserve to be put in a coma." Hiei was in a terrible mood but concern for Kurama outweighed everything else at the moment.

He sniffed the air. The smell of blood confirmed Hiei's suspicion; the medicine seller had checked on Kurama before receiving medical attention, that idiot.

Kurama's gaze was flat, voice deadpan. "Hiei, if you're only here to make remarks on the obvious, I'm not in the mood." That, though, he hadn't meant to let sound so harsh. But Hiei did have a particular talent at catching him in bad moods.

Hiei narrowed his glare on Kurama but said nothing. His friend was obviously in a very poor mood and for a very good reason. He couldn't really blame him for responding badly to his sarcasm.

Hiei looked away, focusing his attention on a half mutilated plant by his foot. "I came to see if you were alright and...if you needed my help at all," he mumbled. He knew Kurama could hear him, but Hiei felt vulnerable in saying that out loud. However he knew from prior experience that it meant a lot to Kurama when he swallowed his pride and told him his feelings without resorting to telepathy.

Kurama chewed his lip, instantly regretting what he'd said. He knew Hiei was concerned, he just hadn't appreciated it the way he should have. "Forgive me," he murmured back, ducking his head. "I spoke harshly and... I'm not quite with myself. I would appreciate your help." And as formal as it all sounded, his words were genuine.

Hiei heard the sincerity in his voice. He sighed and looked back up at Kurama, his face as emotionless as he could possibly make it. "What can I do to help, Kurama?" he asked, his blank expression compensating for the uncharacteristic offer.

"I don't know yet," Kurama sighed, rubbing his face with both hands. He felt exhausted, not realizing that he'd been in the greenhouses for far longer than just an hour or so. "We'll have to monitor him, if he's voted in. If we're lucky, he'll get squibbed." Of course, B hadn't been squibbed, and he had been arguably as dangerous as Karasu.

Hiei crossed his arms. "But we can't depend on luck," he finished what was probably close Kurama's thoughts, "so we need to prepare ourselves." Of course they were both much stronger now, but that bastard would go after the weaker students too. Which reminded Hiei of the second question he meant to ask Kurama.

"Who was at his sorting aside from you and your lover?" He spied on some of the sorting but only recognized Kusuriyuri (whose name he felt uncomfortable saying) and Kurama. He didn't stay near the sorting room for more than a few minutes at a time lest Karasu pick up on his energy, so he didn't see anyone else worth his concern.

Kurama bit the inside of his lip to keep from snapping at Hiei over the labeling. It irritated the hell out of him, and on top of everything else, he felt his mood darken further.

"A," he replied, voice perhaps sharper than he intended. "Mello, Wishbone. Others, surely, but they are the only ones I know of."

Hiei noticed the irritation in Kurama's voice. Kusuriyuri was still a sore topic between them.

"Did he hurt any of them?" Hiei asked, a little to quickly for his taste. He was, against his better judgment, worried about A. He was just the kind of person Karasu would target. Hiei had been controlling his anger, but his hands started to go numb when he imagined what Karasu would do to A if he got the chance.

He shook his head. "Gave A and wishbone a terrible fright. A..." he smiled a little, still quite proud that A had handled himself so well. "A managed to shank him a couple of times, though."

Hiei couldn't picture A stabbing anybody and at first the surprise was evident on his face. He quickly recovered though and replaced his shock with an amused grin.

Hiei gave a short laugh, partially from relief. "Good for him. But I can bet it didn't do much." Cynical as always, but a human with a knife didn't stand much of a chance against a demon.

"No," his good humor faded as quickly as it had come. "No, it seems that doing so made Karasu more interested in him. I'm teaching him defensive tactics if Karasu gets too near, and Mello is teaching him hexes and the like."

Hiei frowned, reflecting Kurama's change in demeanor. "I can keep my eye on Karasu," he volunteered, making an unintentional pun about his Jagan in the process. "He doesn't know I'm here, so he won't take precautions against my abilities." Hiei wanted to help. He'd fight Karasu himself if it was between that and someone like A getting hurt, but spying probably would be better for everybody (except Karasu).

Kurama was surprised by the offer. Usually Hiei would go off and do it on his own regardless if it was needed, and report back if he felt like it. Interesting.

"I would appreciate it," he said at length, sitting again on the table an being rewarded by Belophoebe by getting a lapfull of leopard cat. "He's already a bit fixated on A... I'm sure Karasu has found others, as well."
