I've decided to grab something to eat in the Great Hall. And this recluse is the last one I expect to see here. "Still delusional, Mikami?" I ask, taking a seat at another table.

"Still psychopathic, Mello?" The slight emphasis on the name is like quotation marks. He'd love to be able to say Keehl, but he's quite sure Mello really would cut out his tongue for that.

"I've never qualified for a diagnosis of any type of psychosis," I reply, crossing my arms over my chest and glaring a warning at him. "Nor has antisocial personality disorder been fully ruled out."

"...and I'm not delusional."

He flicks his wrist, sending the pillow skimming down the table, almost in a straight line. Not quite good enough. He Summons it back.

L walked into the Great Hall, asking a house elf for cheese cake with strawberries and whipped cream on it and tea as he did. He climbed onto a bench, squatting on it as was his wont, and placed a very large book on the table before him. He watched Mikami Banishing the pillow before turning to the book and opening it. As he read, his thumb rested on his lip and he looked up occasionally to see if Mikami was making progress.

He was, although the pillow still tended to go off at various angles rather than in a completely straight line. He tried to ignore L, but couldn't help looking over at him occasionally, wondering whether he was still watching. ...And how he could eat so much sugar without being sick.

L continued to watch, occasionally turning pages. The house elves, knowing his habits, brought him tea and sugar and he turned his attention to preparing it, making mental notes on Mikami's progress. He knew what part this man would take in the events in his future, but he still wanted to observe him, to see if he could figure out what motivated him.

It was getting harder and harder to concentrate. Eventually Mikami gave up and turned to L, snapping "Must you look at me like that?"

Jing was quite happily exploring the castle. It had many mysteries for him to look into and many treasures. He caught the cushion as he flew at him just as he entered the Great Hall. "I didn't think I'd offended anyone here yet," he laughed, looking at Mikami.

"I'm sorry," Mikami replied, irritated with himself. That one had gone in completely the wrong direction, although at least it hadn't hit someone like Mello. "I still don't have the arm movements right."

Jing waved his hand. "Don't worry. I've had worse things thrown at my head," he said easily. He tossed the pillow back to Mikami. "What are you doing?" he asked, leaning against the wall.

"Banishing charms." He caught the pillow, placing it back on the table. "I've been working my way through the more basic spells."

Kurama had passed through the Great Hall merely by accident (he was sure that the southwestern hallway was a loop - it always seemed to bring him back here when he left) but pressing matters weren't as pressing when there was a thoroughly amusing person in the vicinity. And while he hadn't seen Mikami since their mutual sortings, the kid had made an impression on him. Yes, that impression was 'this human is insane on a level I have personal issues with,' which was why he stayed.

"How's that justice coming, Teru?" He asked loudly, making sure to time himself right in the middle of Mikami's concentration.

His hand twitched, and somehow the pillow managed to come towards him, nearly hitting him in the face. He turned, glaring at Kurama.

"Don't call me Teru," he snapped, and then saw Kurama and - managed not to do an obvious double take.

Kurama grinned widely. A shame that Mikami had such good reflexes, that'd almost been a twofer.

"Whatever did that cushion do for you to bully it so?" He asked, making his voice as innocently condescending as he could.

It would be ridiculous to be offended by that, so he wasn't. Really.

"Has something alarmed you, Professor Minamino? You're looking rather pale." Not exactly the best comeback, but about as good as he could manage under the cirsumstances.

Can Beowulf be Banished? Perhaps we may find out!

In addition to his usual attire the Geat was happily wearing the brightly colored hat, scarf, and mittens Pippi had given him for Yule. They enhanced his appearance of insanity. The hat and scarf and mittens would have looked cute on a normal person dressed normally, but over an ensemble of leather underwear and an open black wizarding robe ... ?

He held in his mittens a large burlap sack. On the sack had been printed, in runes, SACK JOE.

"I HAVE FOUND YOU AT LAST!" he hailed Mikami. "I HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU!" Besides what was in his pants!

Mikami spun round, raising his wand protectively. "What do you want?" he asked, gazing in shocked fascination at the mittens.

"I HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU," repeated Beowulf, and advanced upon Sack Joe, extending the sack toward him.

It didn't look - imminently dangerous, so Mikami reached out a hand for it, cautious. "What is it?"
