Fields was, rather unsuccessfully, looking for Gryffindor after her sorting. She'd found the Great Hall, at least. Truthfully, she'd found the Great Hall twice before, too. She always seemed to end up back there, no matter which way she went.
"I'm terribly sorry," she said to the girl, who also looked confused. Maybe birds of a feather should stick together? "Do you happen to know where Gryffindor is?"
"Oh, yes," said Hermione with abject bitterness. "I know right where it is. Not that I'd recommend staying there since it smells like a bloody Quidditch locker room at the moment." She realized that she should try to be nicer, but found herself unable to care all that much. "Here, I'll walk there with you," she added in a kinder tone, the one she'd used on lost first-years. "The castle can be a bit difficult to get used to." And that was before it had gone 'round the bend.
"The armor's not dangerous," said Hermione. "Except sometimes they're charmed to sing Christmas carols, and they don't do a good job of it." She gave a faint smile. "And I'm Hermione." It seemed odd not to be recognized on sight, and she idly found herself wondering if in this new Hogwarts, there were people who hadn't managed to hear of Harry Potter.

Obediently, Strawberry followed her. "It's very kind of you," she said. "I'm hopelessly lost."

She led Fields down a few halls and then pointed. "There. Just turn to your right and go up those stairs and you'll be there."

The stairs seemed inclined to stay where they were, at least for the time being. "Thank you...?" Fields said, fishing for a name from her guide.
