Sign-ups for... special tutoring
Amaranth was sitting in the compy lab, idly trying to figure out how to actually type with a keyboard instead of gazing through crystal balls like she would have back home. She was wearing a sandwich board as her token attempt at clothing. On the back of the board had been written a sign that read:

A roll of parchment had been taped to the back of this for signatures, and this was hanging over the back of her chair. Since Amaranth was studiously concentrating on her game, she might not necessarily know when a person had signed up for her offered lessons. And since she was so new at Hogwarts, and in general was fairly naive, she would owl all the names listed on the parchment by the time she got up and left. Whether those people had signed up themselves or been signed up by impish pranksters. However, should anyone actually want to talk to Amaranth, she would be happy to be interrupted.
