Birthday Ramblings ((Open RP, Library))
It wasn't as if he'd told anyone, so no one could be blamed for not knowing. It was another day, a day many labeled Halloween or Samhain or All Hallow's Eve. To L, it was his birthday. But, how old was he this year? Twenty-one, like he thought he should be? Twenty-nine, like the calendar said he should be? Twenty-five, as he was when he would die? Did die? Would have died? Did it really matter?
There were things that he needed to do, people he still needed to contact, like Kurama to see what the redhead was teaching A. But, he'd always taken a few hours out to celebrate. Not that he would celebrate much. A cheesecake with white chocolate covered strawberries, tea that flavored a cup of sugar. And marshmallows to stack before he ate them. The house elves were obliging and brought these things to the library for him.
What will this year in this strange place bring him? As he eats, his fork held between his thumb and forefinger by the end of the handle, he considers this question. These past months have been rocky in a far more personal way than he'd ever had to deal with before. Would the next year see things smoother?
Somehow, he wasn't that optimistic. The chances of things going smoothly, given all the influencing factors, was less than 3%.
But, he is out of his room, it is his birthday, he is enjoying his cheesecake. This, in and of itself, is an improvement.
