Steff was still a little shell-shocked from the sudden, potion-induced transformation. But she had to admit that it was more than a little exhilerating to have some make a b-line for her upon entering a room.

All her life, Steff had dealt with ambivalence where she hadn't been faced with out and out derision, but for the first time in her life, she really was all woman...not just some tranny guy playing pretend.

She smiled at the short man and tossed her now honeyed locks. She realized that her clothes were tighter in some places now and looser in others but she figured that was probably to her advantage.

"As nice as it is for you to offer sweetie, I think I'm done with the punch for now." If one swallow turned you into a nymph, she had no idea what more might do.

"It's nice to meet you Miles, I'm...Steff." She'd almost decided to take on Amy's name and perhaps her persona but changed her mind at the last instant. The little man was cute, in that bumbling, way too socially inept sort of way that Mack was. Steff thought she might like him.

Miles nodded. "It looks... rather potent," he agreed. He realized that he had totally run out of conversational gambits. Dammit.

"There needs to be music," he observed, falling back on saying the first thing that came to mind. "Then we could dance."

Steff grinned a grin that no one had ever seen on Amaranth's face.

"Silly, you don't have to have music to dance..." Steff held out her hands and waited for Miles to them in his.

Miles took her hands. "That's true," he agreed. "But the music definitely helps. Especially if you find yourself distracted by your partner such that you lose all sense of rhythm."

If a nymph were able to blush, Steff would have caused Amaranth's body to do so.

"Don't worry about it, hon. I'll keep the beat."

She smiled and squeezed Miles' hands as she pulled him in close and pressed herself against him.

Incidentally, this had the effect of pressing his face into her more than ample cleavage.

Slowly, Steff started humming softly and began to shuffle them both in small circles around the hall.

'OK, Vorkosigan, don't drool!' Miles told himself sternly. But to his credit, if there was one thing that being the son of one of the most powerful members of the Vor on Barrayar had given him, it was the ability to dance well, despite all comments about being distracted. And he was distracted. He moved their hands to a more traditional dancing posture, relishing the feel of her softness in his arms.

When her humming came to a stop, he offered up another question, mostly because he needed the distraction so he wouldn't be tempted to kiss her.

"Are you new here?" he wanted to know. "I'm sure I'd have recognized you if I'd ever seen you before."

Steff smiled down at Miles with Amaranth's face.

"Yes, I am new here. Just got sorted earlier today in fact. Apparently I'm in Hufflepuff, though I honestly don't have any idea what that means."

She chuckled softly and continued to sway to music that could only be heard inside her head.

"I guess you've been here for a while yourself, huh? What house are you in?"

"Ahh, Hufflepuff. The house for the loyal and hardworking, and also, apparently, the house for really attractive women." Somehow, when he said it, that statement actually came out complimentary rather than merely cheesy. "I'm a Slytherin myself... ambitious and apparently fond of Parmesan... whatever that says about me." He realized that he did not, in fact, want to be talking about Hogwarts right now. Not when there was something about the look in her eyes, something haunted and hungry, that made him decide it was going to be fine to push them both a little.

"I'm also the Astronomy professor, as of a few weeks ago," he said. "Which means I have an office and a house elf to do things for me. Do you want to maybe blow this jump station and have some wine or... something... in my office?"

Steff gave him a wanton grin.

"A professor, huh? Isn't it sort of frowned upon for professors to spend too much time alone with students in their offices?" The look in Steff's eyes betrayed the fact that she really didn't care about any such rules, assuming they existed. She was merely being coy because it was always fun to toy with boys just a little.

Miles grinned. "Not if you don't tell them," he told her. "And anyway, those sorts of rules don't seem to be enforced very much here." He probably would have cared more had they been with the Dendarii, where he'd made a point not to fraternize in that sort of way with his people (all evidence concerning Elli Quinn and Taura aside), but they weren't, and it didn't seem like the sort of issue that would plague their headmistress too much.

Steff leaned in close so that her lips here very close to Miles' ear and her breasts were very close to everything else.

"I won't tell if you won't." She told him in a throaty whisper.
