After a day of trying to navigate the mercurial halls of Hogwarts to the library (unsuccesfully), and a night of sleeping in a random hallway (uncomfortably), Ben had finally found his way to his goal. He half expected something similar to the library from Pratchett's Discworld series in a place as crazy as this, but was pleasantly surprised to see mostly neat rows of books and tables. He made a note of the restricted section for later perusal, and then began scanning the relatively less dangerous shelves that made up the rest of the library. He really had no idea where to start.
Setting down a half burned candle he had used while exploring the hallways at night, he picked up a nearby pen and paper, and muttered a wish for a ball point pen underneath his breath. This quill thing was going to get old. He began sloppily jotting down the names of books which sounded useful, planning to come back to them later.
