Open RP - Not Quite Perfect

L had suggested trying to create charms triggered by mood or action, rather than by the traditional wave-wand-yell-incantation, and that's just what Matt's doing. It's tricky work - not quite the same as the runework Matt's become used to - and it's the first time he's tried it. So it's not really that surprising that he messes up.

He had not done anything to deserve the energy bitchslap he'd just felt, not that he outright knew of, but feel it he did, and Kurama felt... stronger for it?

Stronger and... taller.

Oh, damn. So much for secrecy. Looks like whoever he ran into would discover he was a kitsune whether he liked it or not.

Matt's met some pretty weird people at Hogwarts - he's a little less surprised when he meets those who aren't human.

"If anything weird's happening to you, I'm sorry and I'm on it," he says. If you can count 'flipping uselessly through some books' as being 'on it'.

"I think "if" is a unnecessary addition to that statement, don't you?" Normally he'd be kinder about the situation, but he liked at least being in control of himself, if nothing else.

"How am I supposed to know if you're different from normal? I don't know who the hell you are."

It's not an ideal situation by anyone's standards.

He doesn't answer with much more than a non-committal grunt, towering over the unfamiliar girl. "How did this happen?"

Matt's normally pretty short. As a girl he's tiny. He scowls up at the stranger.

"I was attempting an experiment."

[serrulata]

He doesn't return the scowl, merely staring back disinterestedly.

"What was the nature of this experiment?"

[gamerspy]

"Seeing if I could trigger charms through non-traditional means."

Technically, it sort of worked.

[serrulata]

"And you attempted this without setting up proper barriers?"

Not that he was trying to sound chastising, or anything.

[gamerspy]

Matt flushes a little.

"It's a school for magic. I figured I'd be alright."

Apart from the part where he specifically didn't try it in his own room, in case he messed with his electronics.

[serrulata]

"Indeed, one would assume the construction of proper precautions before magical experimentation would be taught here," he scoffed. Or at least someone would have imbue a little common sense by now.

[gamerspy]

"... you're new here, right? They don't really do teaching."

[serrulata]

"I will have to rectify that, once my class begins."

He hadn't meant that to sound quite so haughty.

[gamerspy]

"Yeah? What class?"

Matt might make a note to avoid it.

[serrulata]

"Herbology. There's a chance I can pound something useful into my dear students' thick skulls."

[gamerspy]

"Right. Sorry to say, I doubt I'll be there."

If he does turn up, it'll inevitably be with a handheld games console.
