Sharing the Wealth

Laura,

I got a pen for a bribe. You can have it. Since the end of July is coming up, should I be shaking down applicants for anything in particular?

Alan,

Oooh, nice! Thank you, and you're welcome to joint custody if you like.

Hmmm, July now. I'm just about out of that lovely Scotch I got at a sorting ages ago, and coffee's always good. I could use a new handbag, but maybe I better pick that one out myself. That do for a start?

Love,
Laura

Laura,

It's not plastic. I'd break it.

Scotch I can do. I can do coffee, to but don't they already have that here? Or do you want that extra-fancy stuff?

What, a paper bag can't double as a handbag? Picky, picky.

Alan,

You handle ancient bone fragments all the time. I think you can probably be trusted with a pen.

The good stuff, please. That's a new thing since my time. If there was such a thing as 'the good stuff' in the coffee world, I never heard about it.

Hmph. Men. Next you'll get onto me about having more than one wristwatch.

Love,
Laura

Laura,

A pen, yes. A pen that can be easily replaced.

Apparently there is coffee, and then there's coffee. Say, $15 a cup coffee. No, I don't know what makes it so much, either. I guess we can find out.

More than one? It's a watch. It tells time. Generally, it's only one time in any given place. Do I really want to know why you need more than one?

I get it. It's like the shoes thing, isn't it?
