A had been unsure when Matt suggested getting use of greenhouse space, and even moreso when Mello suggested building his own. But when Turlough not only supported the idea but suggested enlisting the aid of the house elves in building it, there was no way he could resist

Turlough, no doubt relieved to be back in his body, was a little off to the side, sitting on the grass, sketching merrily.

A was busy discussing the layout at first, but once the house elves were clear on where he wanted the door (at one end of the garden) they started in right away, leaving him to his own devices.

"Would you like a piece of cobbler, Mr. Turlough? And there is lemonade as well."

Turlough blinked. He quickly finished his current sketch and set his pencils and pad down. "All right, then."

"I made this one myself," A said with quiet pride, serving up a piece of cobbler. "I had some suggestions from the house elves but I made it myself."

The lemonade too, but that was easy.

[mello_n_choco]

"So, it's really happening," I murmur, leaning against a tree. A glance up and I see pears. "Not that I had any doubt," I add with a grin. I'm wandering around a bit more since I've decided that locking myself up in the library wasn't the most conducive thing to my health or relationships, even if becoming reacquainted was rather wonderful. "They work fast," I say as I watch the house elves move things into place.

"They do." A's a little less shy with Mello now, and his smile is warmer. "I will be able to grow things in it very soon."

He holds up the tray of pear-cherry cobbler. "Would you like some? Or some lemonade?"

"You really do like that, the growing things?"

I look at the dessert. "Yeah, sure." I don't think he'd do anything weird to his food. "Sounds good."

"I... I love making things grow," A says softly. "Making them grow, and them being useful." He dishes up some cobbler for Mello. "Like making this with pears and cherries."

After finishing his cobbler, Turlough moved around to another angle, give him a different perspective to draw from. During this, A had been talking to Mello.

I walk over and crouch next to the groundskeeper. Lightly, I say, "I want to thank you for letting A build his garden and greenhouse."

Turlough looked at Mello. "It's not really hurting anyone. I've seen things that hurt people. May as well have something nice."

[mello_n_choco]

I raise an eyebrow. "So long as you're not going to perpetuate the 'things that hurt people' thing, I will not perpetuate it with you." I smile at him. "It's important that A is happy, understand?"

Kusuriyuri came out to the garden to find his student, late for the first time to their lessons. The changes to the side of the garden caused him to pause. The house elves were busily putting together a building that was see through. He watched, mildly confused by the activity.

A flushed guiltily when he saw Kusuriyuri coming; he'd lost track of time, watching the house elves at their construction.

"I, oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he says, eyes cast down. "I was, oh, I got excited watching..."

An amused smile curved Kusuriyuri's lips. "Watching what, deshi? This is...?"

"A greenhouse," A said with an almost awed sigh. "Matt, Matt suggested I should try using part of one of the school ones, and then Mello said I should build my own, and then, oh, Mr. Turlough said it was all right if I did, and even that it could be a big one."

Snape has seen the progress from above and comes down into the grounds to investigate. Perhaps someone is producing potions materials. He approaches and pauses at the door.

Breaking off from a brief conversation about some final details with a house elf, A looks up at Snape a bit nervously; they haven't met, and Snape's rather intimidating.

"Would, would you like some lemonade?"

Snape looks suspiciously about. "Lemonade? Yes, please... This is your greenhouse?" He will risk lemonade. It is very polite and kind of this person to offer. He seems polite and Severus is inclined to respond in kind.

Because he learned some semblence of manners in his misspent youth he introduces himself. "I am Professor Snape, Head of the Hospital Wing."

A pours him some of the lavender-infused lemonade and smiles anxiously.

"I'm, I'm A. Yes, I, the house elves are just finishing building it for me. In part of it I am going to grow herbs for the kitchen."

He's quite proud of that part.
