As "to the death" was not an option, Selvetarm seemed ready to substitute "to the agony," judging by his shout as he realized who was responsible.
Jezz, over at the Slytherin table, buried his face in his arms, thinking it inadvisable to chuckle in the presence of what looked to be a rather unhappy lot.
Mentok did not notice Selvetarm's shout, no doubt because others were shouting, and also because he's still talking. "I'm Mentok the Mindtaker, Slytherin. If you're still in the wrong body, I'm over there." He pointed to a corner, then quickly poofed there.
The stream of half-comprehensible language that continued on the dash to the corner, his sword and mace out, was to the effect that he'd show Mentok a "wrong body" step by step.
It was a toss-up between Selvetarm not noticing their absence or not caring as he dove toward Mentok, teeth bared. His bite couldn't kill anymore, he knew, but the acidic venom in it could still hurt.
... why was Jezz's mouth suddenly hanging open? He looked down at the bright red tunic, the empty spaces for the weapons, the person underneath him, and said "Vith."
Selvetarm jumped up from the Slytherin table and, unaccustomed to Jezz's leg brace, promptly fell over with a crash and another yell.
Vhaeraun heard Selvetarm's voice from the Great Hall and slipped away amid what was more confusion.
He munched down the rest of his cupcake, and went into the Great Hall, seeing the real Selvetarm jumping over to the Slytherin table with Jezz trying to stifle his laughter. Apparantly thie Mentok was responsible for all the confusion. Mindswapping, eh? He made a mental note of this.
Vhaeraun didn't know whether or not to try to intervene and protect Mentok (wouldn't want to harm a potential resource and Mentok could owe him a major boon for this.) Before he made his decision, confusion occured once again, Jez stumbled from his seat, which was rather unusual because he had mastered that brace to perfection. Something was definitely up.
"Something amiss, Jezz?" Vhaeraun said, noting Jezz's sudden change in demeanor. Maybe saying soemthign would answer this.
"You swapped their minds?" Vhaeraun said, looking at Jezz and Selvetarm. He did feel a little sorry for Jezz though Selvetarm deserved it. "Yes my son does have some anger issues to work out, so any punishment is fitting. But tell me about this mind swapping?" He was really curious now. "Is this a natural psionic ability?"
"Well natural for me, I've always been able to do it. Made a good way to commit crime, back when I was a villain. Nowadays, I just use it to screw with people's minds."

Jezz raised his head enough to take a peek.

"Yeah, not here, jack."

Before he could swap Selvetarm's mind with the dog, though, Selvetarm tackled him, throwing him off enough to swap his mind with Jezz instead.

"That's what happens when you mess with Mentok the Mindtaker!"

Selvetarm, sprawled under the table, started to fumble for Jezz's kukri.

Vhaeraun's hair turned green as he grinned.
