In a nearby hallway Selvetarm stared at his suddenly-blanched hands, then darted to the nearest stairs down in an impulsive search for his first suspect for a trick like this
( ... )
Vhaeraun casually strolled by the Great Hall. He had one of those strange feelings something remotely entertaining would happen, and decided to at least go over and maybe grab one of these cupcake concoctions he had developed a taste for.
He had entered the Great Hall, noticing nothing too out of the ordinary before grabbing the cocoa pastry with vanilla frosting and some purple sugar sprinkled over the top.
He walked from the Hall to notice people around him acting out of sorts. Maybe this was what he was waiting for. He kept a safe distance to the side of the hallway, licking the frosting on his cupcake and observing. The sight of a young human in casual clothing wielding greatsword was a bit curious.
There he was. Selvetarm made for him, out into another hall, hefting the sword best as he could.
"You," he hissed in the drow tongue. "You treacherous-" He'd gotten out of practice. And shared ancestry, alas, rather cut down on the pool of potential insults. He gave in to temptation, inaccurate as the recently-learned epithet probably was. "-motherfucker!"
Vhaeraun raised his eyebrows and nibbled into the cupcake. This pale human wielding a greatsword knew drow and spoke it perfectly. He also knew Vhaeraun well enough to accuse him of something.
"Well, well, do we know eachother fron somewhere," Vhaeraun said with a smile, wondering what this one might do next.
As he'd made his way about, seen other people in comparable situations, he'd come to realize that it A) wasn't just him and B) was therefore less likely to be Vhaeraun behind it all. This logic, however, had been largely overruled by Vhaeraun's appearance on the scene, which in his current state of mind seemed tantamount to proof.
Now Vhaeraun's question, though asked in all semi-innocence, set him off again. "Do we know each other?" he screamed back, and swung the sword.
Vhaeraun paid closer attention to the human, though kept his ears open for the rest of the people walking through the hall. Some sounded like that had gone into new bodies. By the sounds of this one, he had been a drow before beign a human, though Vhaeraun now remembered seeing this human around. And now he spoke perfect drow and wielded a greatsword...that was coming at him.
Vhaeraun stayed still for a moment before turning into black shadows, getting away from the sword swipe and materializing next to the human while taking another nibble.
"You wouldn't happen to know someone named Selvetarm do you," he asked.
Maybe, just maybe, confronting Vhaeraun while in another body, with his own powers stunted and carrying a rather mundane weapon, was not the best of ideas. He remained determined to see it through.
"Know him? Know me, father? And you call me simple."
"You would think so," unspoken, especially if you put it that way. "Do you not recognize your own spindling fingers?" Said while holding the sword to let him have a good look at the grip on the hilt. They weren't that much longer or skinnier in truth, but.

"But my son is a drow, or a spider," Vhaeraun said, enjoying this too much. "Now my son is a human? Fascinating. I have to say this form suits you."

The woman trying to work out how wings work sounds mildly disgruntled by the whole thing.
