Jezz limped round the corner with his latest acquisitions from the library, took note of the other person in the corridor, and lifted an eyebrow even as he nodded in acknowledgment.
Jezz was no powerhouse at the best of times, and his trip had turned up more of a load than planned. The books were swaying precariously now, and it took all of his agility to stop them thudding all over the floor. He lowered the stack to one side instead, and then followed, pivoting to lean back against the wall, quite casually, with his braced leg sticking out.
He'd have liked to have waited until he was well away from witnesses, but it couldn't be helped, and at least it wasn't a complete pratfall.
"Please, those are too many books for one person to be handling, especially at this time of night." He did manage to get a few in his hands before Jezz could. "And I don't mind helping."
"I see." Jezz proceeded slowly down the stairs and froze at the bottom. The next corridor was darker but with his eyesight he could easily distinguish the giant black spider moving along the ceiling.
As he guessed who must be behind it, Selvetarm snapped back to drow form and continued to hang upside down with his feet planted on the ceiling. The effect now was not so much spider as bat.
Jezz half-turned, drawing his wand, but was interrupted by the descent of someone half a foot taller and correspondingly heavier. There was only a step or so left to tumble, and he did manage to deflect damage, but the landing amid scattered books was no less undignified.
Drizzt had been in the library, simply looking around at the fascinating tomes when he saw Soichiro walking around. He looked clearly distressed and Drizt had kept half an eye on him to possibly offer any aid.
Seeing Jezz around him made him pay a little bit more attention: he did not trust Jezz and was wary about how thi could turn out. It looked pretty innocent, even Drizzt was about to go and help him.
The appearance of Selvetarm, however, made Drizzt move forward, about to help clean some of the books, yet make sure no mischief was about.
"Let me give you a hand there," Drizzt said to Jezz and Soichiro. "You most certainly have your hands full.

He got a good enough look at his face to see his name was in some alphabet he can't read.
Great. Bad enough he sees many names in one day, worse when he can't read them. No wonder he's going insane.

Help with what, he didn't say. Did he want to sleep or stay awake? Even he wasn't sure.

He started for the next staircase.

"Is there a problem..." then he looked up. He gave a cry of surprise and tripped over the stairs.

Selvetarm, looking on, burst out laughing.

He glared up at Selvetarm (another unreadable name, this is not his night). "Don't DO that."

Selvetarm's expression of innocence could use some work. "Do what?"
