A is willing to be at least tentatively friendly to anyone his cats welcome, especially if the person in question is kind to the rapidly-growing kittens in return. The Chairman's smile is encouraging.
"I, I think they like your smell," he ventured cautiously.
"That, or they may sense a kindred spirit. I've been turned into a cat once, maybe they picked up on that." He crouched down to let the cats rub against his hand.
"I was actually irritated at first. The potions master found it amusing and I didn't. Once I got used to it, though, it was a little nice. I was glad to turn back into a human, though, thank you very much."
"It is." He smiled, remembering how happy and silly it makes Einstein and Schrodinger. "They roll around and drool a little and seem very glad to have it."
More scratching of their tiny heads. "Well, if you promise never to tell anyone of this, if I ever turn into a cat again, I'll come find out for myself."
Still, he permitted himself a smile as the cats tackled his feet as he walked into the Great Hall.
