::Open RP: Kitten-Smitten::

While A, as a general rule, is content to stay in his room, Schrodinger is a growing kitten, and always eager to explore and play. A's room is small, and even a tiny kitten seems to need space, so A has taken her to the Great Hall, where there is space for her to frolic

Matt actually pushes one side of his goggles upwards, peering at the kitten with an uncovered eye.

"Has it gotten bigger already? Is that even possible?"

A question about Schrodinger? That makes A less shy. "She spends a lot of time eating and sleeping. That makes it easy to grow."

[gamerspy]

"Huh."

He comes closer, offering his hand for the kitten to sniff at or headbutt or whatever it is kittens do by way of greeting.

"Is she still chewing on everything?"

"She likes to bite ankles," A warns. "And fingers."

[gamerspy]

"I think my ankles are safe. And my fingers, I guess, but..." He holds up one hand, showing A tiny bite marks in the leather of his gloves. "These, not so much."

[i_am_an_hero]

"I'm sorry," says A, who does in fact sound contrite, although he's secretly proud of the kitten's fierceness. "Schrodinger, you must stop that."

Matt laughs. "Don't worry about it. That might just be its nature - though I guess you won't be able to tell for a while. Are you getting along well?"

[i_am_an_hero]

"With Schrodinger? She likes to sleep on my pillow. And she sucks on my hair." He smiles when he says it.

[gamerspy]

Matt smiles too. "I'm glad you like it. And I'm sorta jealous - now I want a pet, too. Is it difficult?"

A seems much, much saner like this. The kitten really was a good idea after all. Matt can kinda see why L likes him; he's child-like, but obviously not stupid. He sits on the table, watching the kitten.

"The house elves help me, they bring the food and change the litter. I get to watch her play." There's wonder in his voice; Schrodinger's playfulness never ceases to amaze him. "And she's affectionate, when she isn't biting. And sometimes her biting seems affectionate as well."

"Sounds like she does that a lot. It'd be awesome to be an animal for a little while, huh? Especially one that gets taken care of as well as Schrodinger." It's a clumsy compliment, but it seems like a good idea to encourage him.

"She's very happy." He remembers L comparing him to Schrodinger; that still amazes him. "It is wonderful to watch, it must be even better to be."

[gamerspy]

"Good." Matt pulls out a cigarette, then pauses. "Uh - do you mind if I...? And how've you been getting on, anyway?"

[i_am_an_hero]

A shrugs at the cigarette; he's never really been exposed to them. And Matt's question makes him pause.

"I... I have a wand. He got it for me. Took me to get it."

He doesn't mention B. He doesn't want to think about B.

"Yeah, I saw," Matt says, nodding at the feather as he lights up. "They're pretty cool as well. I've not really tried much with mine yet."

Perhaps A shouldn't have been so quick to agree to the cigarette; the unaccustomed smoke makes him cough slightly.

"I'm going to learn hexes."
