a belated White Day gift

Beowulf wasn't too clear on this whole White Day concept. Moreover, he had entirely lost track of time. One thing was certain: he knew what he liked. Tentacled monsters.

Via house-elf courier, a package of liquor-filled chocolates was delivered to Tako the octopus.

Ooooh, oooh! A gift! Tako had fans!

He'd even had this happen once before, so Tako knew what to do. Springing into action, he grabbed a publicity photo, smeared it with lipstick (because he didn't have lips) and sent it along with a thank-you note.

MY NAME IS TAKO
YOU ARE MY #1 FAN!

HUGS AND KISSES,

TAKO

He'd check later to see what kind of girl's name Beowulf was.

Beowulf puzzled over this missive. He got Professor Wednesday to explain to him the curious rune of #. Then he wrote back.

NO, I AM A GEAT.
IT IS TRUE I AM #1.

It was only Tako's duty to help Beowulf out. He was a fan, after all.

NO, I AM A GREAT.

Fixed that for you! Remember, stay in school, Beowulf!

So maybe Beowulf wasn't a smoking hot chick. Tako always did enjoy inspiring his younger fans. Just think, a whole generation of cooks in the making!

Beowulf agreed with Tako's evaluation, except that Tako had left out an important word.

YOU ARE RIGHT. I AM A GREAT GEAT!

I WILL STAY IN THIS SCHOOL.

He accompanied this with an artist's rendering of himself, to illustrate the point. (The artist was a talented house-elf.)
