((Unpopped with modly permission. Gert has no memory of the time she was here previously. Also, spoilers for the "Parental Guidance" arc of Runaways are under the cut tag.))
At first, Gertrude was mainly surprised to be anywhere. Granted, she'd never been terribly sure what happened after death, but she'd tended to just assume that that was that and nothing more. So the fact that she was experiencing anything other than oblivion was a little startling. After that, she was a bit more surprised to find that she was lying on a floor in a pile of... popcorn? She sat up, looked around, and realised that she was in a room quite different from the observatory, and there were glass cases all throughout the room containing giant kernels of popcorn.
Gert pushed herself to her feet, brushing popcorn pieces from her clothing, and looked around. "Bizarre," she breathed. -- Heh. Breathed.
There was still one thing amiss, though. She was sensing some presence besides herself in the room -- it couldn't be, could it? She looked around one more time, and there, bounding toward her, was Old Lace. Gert patted the dinosaur's snout and tried to grin, but couldn't quite manage it. "I thought I transferred the connection to Chase," she mused. "If this is some kind of afterlife, you shouldn't be here, girl."
Old Lace wasn't listening, though; she was just glad to see Gert here, alive.
"Okay, okay. We'll figure that out as soon as we figure out what kind of place this is. C'mon, let's see if we can find Saint Peter or any sort of pearly gates, okay?"
