A tall, statuesque woman, so blonde her hair looked to be nearly white and dressed in elegant looking black pants and an equally flattering black halter top, appeared in the Sorting Room. She didn't look confused or disoriented, and she moved with grace and purpose to the table holding the application. She picked up the application and skimmed

The redhead looked somewhat chagrined at Six's question. "Uh, I used to. I'm one of the old ones, you know. Been going to school here since first year. Most of the people here have only started coming in about a year or two ago. But things really changed since then. Used to be pretty clear which House had what. Gryffindor for the brave ones, Ravenclaw was for the smart ones, Hufflepuff for everyone else. Slytherin was for the real jerks, but, uh, when I came back, I was sorted there. So were my friends."
He laughed quickly. "Ah, but that was because the whole system changed. Not because we're jerks. But who knows? Maybe you can tell me if I start getting all prat-like. Now I think Hufflepuff is for the pretty girls, Ravenclaw is for the doctors and drunks, and Gryffindor is for the people who wear real tight clothing. I don't know what Slytherin is for. But that was a year ago, I've been on journey around the world as a gap year. I realized that I wasn't going to graduate- Not because I'm dumb, but the school's all turvy! And a little pervy. So I made a gap year of my own. But I was called back."
"I can't really say why. Mission, you know. I can't say from whom, either." Ron tapped his long nose twice. "But keep an eye out suspicious activity for me? Anyways, like I said, there's no saying what the Houses are like now. One minute?"
The redhead went to the door of the sorting room and hollered, "Hey! What are the Houses like now, anyway!? Quick, I need some stereotypical demarcations please!" He looked back at Caprica. "There's always someone around waiting to give his two cents in. Trust me."

"All I was ever told is that Gryffindor is for the brave and Hufflepuff is for the useful. I don't know about the others," she replied in an attempt to be helpful.

"Thanks," he lied. He then looked back to Caprica. "Sorry, I couldn't really find out what's up with the Houses right away. I can mail Harry or even Pro- Mist- Dumbledore."

She listened to the descriptions intently. It was rambling and slightly confusing, but she followed along. "Suspicious activity--got it." Gaius chuckled. "Believe me, I understand all about missions. Is this Harry the one from the questions? Just out of curiosity."
She smiled at the girl. "Hi. Are you new here as well?"

She glanced over at Ron. So, he knew the people who were mentioned in the application questions -- he'd mentioned a "Dumbledore" just now. "So then who are Fred and George?"
Reply
He glanced at Caprica. "Well I could get something in the medical wing for you. I think Muggles used to eat gravel, which I can't help but think would exacerbate things. We got better methods here, trust me."
He then moved to answer both of them. "Fred and George are actually my brothers. Uh, really, they're not into Harry. Trust me, none of them are into blokes. And yeah, Harry was my best mate in school. Nice guy, real tops. Dating my sister now, so like I said... Where are you two from?"

She shook her head at Ron. "No, I'm sure I'm fine. But thank you." She had no idea what a muggle was--some sort of bird, perhaps? Birds were such strange creatures, when you sat down and thought about it. Tiny flying miracles.
She thought it out, and then said, "If Gryffindor is for the brave, then why ask about that? It makes more sense if there's tight clothing involved like you'd mentioned, but not much." She spoke in the tone of someone trying to puzzle things out by speaking out loud--which was exactly what she was doing, really. "I'm from several places. I lived on Caprica for a few years, New Caprica for a while after, and occasionally on a Cylon Basestar. Most recently I was on a Colonial ship, the Galactica."

"Gravel...?" she muttered, wondering just what sort of people Muggles were. How unappetising.
And in answer to Ron's question, she replied, "And I'm from Wisteria, in southeastern Amestris. That's where I've lived for the past several years, no moving around for me."

He casually leaned against the sorting table, getting used enough to Caprica to speak like a normal person. "So, I guess the old ways to sort people still stands. Though even so, some Houses I remember being rougher than others. I wouldn't want to sort either of you anywhere you'd hate."

She shrugged, still smiling. "You've been here for a while, so I'll trust your judgment in regards to where I should go."

Noting Ron's not-so-subtle thing for Caprica, Ruby suggested, "Should I let you two talk privately? It's not as though I know enough about this place to contribute anything important."
Reply
"So Caprica and New Caprica are planets? And you got named after one? That's interesting, I guess. Welcome to Earth!" Ron spread his arms and grinned in welcome. He didn't say anything about taking Caprica to his leader, so points for him. "But let me tell you, in case you're here for research (it can't be for a vacation, the weather here is terrible). This is not typical Earth, alright? Hogwarts is a crossroads for angels, demons, aliens, robots, talking cats... no where else on Earth is like it. Elsewhere there's a lot less explosions, though a lot more deaths."
He then looked at Ruby, and quickly said, "Hey, don't go! Sorry, I guess I've been a jerk. I'm Ron, and even though you might not know about Hogwarts, you probably know enough about other things. And even if you didn't... you're new here too, right? You and Caprica should get to know each other."

She was about to respond to--well, some part of Ron's speech, but something caught her attention. "This... this is Earth?" Gaius was standing absolutely still, looking like his drink had been forgotten. Actually, he looked more as though he had been punched in the face out of nowhere, which was actually an apt metaphor for how she was feeling at the moment. "Did I hear that correctly?"

"It's not a real nice name, like Caprica, so we don't name many of our kids after it. Maybe in other languages. But still, it's home, so..." He shrugged.

Instead, she collected herself. "There's a legend about Earth--we had been looking for it, actually. This was the last place I expected to be."
