Ed stopped in his tracks when he caught sight of Winry's sign. "I wondered where you were," he said, leaning over the wooden counter, "If you wanted to fix something that badly, I could have just broken my automail for you."

Winry lifted a wrench from the cloth and waved it menacingly at him. "Are you sure you want to be saying things like that while I've got all my tools lined up right here?"

"Saying things like what?," Ed asked, oblivious.

"'I could have just broken my automail,'" Winry quoted, still waving the wrench in his face. "How many times have I told you to be careful with your automail?"

"Well, I just thought, y'know, if you really wanted something to fix..."

Winry rolled her eyes and put the wrench back down. "That's not even the point, Ed. I'm trying to find new customers. And if you stand around here you're just going to scare people off."

Ed idly waved his right hand at her. "I thought you liked showing me off."

"In places where people study automail, sure." Winry said, but sighed and nodded at one of the extra stools. "If you're going to stick around you might as well get out of the way so people can see the sign."

Susan, bearing a load of books, paused as she approached the two. "What sort of things can you fix?" she asked, hiding a smile. "I broke the remote control to my friend's television, and even yet he's never let me hear the end of it."

"I can fix lots of things!" Winry said, smiling brightly at the other woman. "I'm not entirely sure what a remote control is, but I'm sure I could figure it out, if you let me look at it,"

"Oh, hey, Susan, long time no see," Ed said cheerfully, his almost-fight with Winry forgotten, "This is, uh, if you couldn't already tell from the sign, my wife, Winry."

The last time Susan had really seen Ed, they'd both been children hitting things with croquet mallets. Somehow, she didn't think that was an incident Winry needed to know about; it wasn't one she herself particularly liked to remember.

"Pleased to meet you," she said, and now she did smile.

"It's nice to meet you," Winry said, smiling again. "I've heard a lot about you from Ed." Winry looked over at Ed, then sighed and shook her head. "And I hope he hasn't been causing you too much trouble. He has a tendency to do that."

Ed frowned over at his wife at that. "What's that supposed to mean?," he whispered in her ear.

Susan laughed. "No," she said, and could quite honestly add, "he's one of the few people I know who hasn't caused a lot of trouble."

She looked at the sign, speculatively. "How much would you know about munitions?" Operation Pudding Bomb still needed someone who could actually deal with the bomb aspect; without someone to do that, it would never get any further.

"You usually cause trouble wherever you go, Ed. I've started to expect it." Winry said quietly to Ed, and patted his leg affectionately before turning her attention back to Susan.

"I don't know much about that sort of thing," she said, and grabbed Ed's arm, holding it up to show off his automail. "Mostly, I do things like this."
