Posters appear magically all over the school that say:

Midsummer's Festival

When: Tonight!
Where: By the lake
What: A party celebrating the summer solstice.

There will be food, drink and a bonfire! All students are invited.

Oh how lovely, a party! Lola hadn't been to one in ages. She'd put on the cutest dress and was currently walking around the tables, checking out the buffet. Oh, peanuts! Yum! She took a fistful, and munching on them she scanned the party, looking for someone nice to talk to.

Jemima entered the party and, at first, saw no one she knew. Then she spied Lola near the buffet table and immediately hurried over to her, "Hi, Lola!" she called.

"Jemima!" Lola brightened and walked over to the girl, nibbling on her nuts. "Wow, I haven't seen you in ages. How've you been?"

"No complaints. Been rather bored, though," replied Jemima, "Which is why I guess I'm here. How about yourself?"

"Ohhh, let's see..." Lola let her eyes travel over the refreshments while she spoke. The nuts had made her thirsty. "Oh, I went to a class! Defence Against the Dark Arts. It was kind of intense."

She grimaced, and then managed to locate some cider. Mmm. Cider. It had some alcohol in it, but Lola could handle it. She sipped it while smiling at Jemima.

Jemima, having never been to a human party before, copied Lola, and poured herself some cider, "I signed up for that class, but I forgot to go. It sounded really exciting, though."

She took a sip of the cider, and made a peculiar scrunchy face. It didn't taste anything like what she used to drink... actually, it tasted awful. She took another sip, though, determined to blend in.

"By the way, I love your dress!" Jemima remarked, trying to act natural.

"Yeah, it was... Kind of scary, too." Lola's face smoothed into a smile again. "But it was a kind of thing that you have to go through, and it was a relief to get it over with. A whole 'face your fear' kind of thing."

She brightened at the compliment. "Oh thank you! That's sweet of you to..." Lola frowned immediately as Jemima made a face. "Are you okay?"

"Oh, I'm fine!" Jemima said brightly, taking another sip of the cider, "Where do you get dresses like that? I really don't know where to get clothes around here. I've only got a few things that the house elves gave me," Jemima tried to change the subject.

Lola was going to ask her if she was sure, she seemed a little off, but talking about shopping? SO the way to make La Sanchez focus on other things!

"Oh, you can go shopping in the village nearby, but if you want the really gorgeous things you have to go to London." Lola suddenly looked like she'd gotten The Best Idea Ever, which she felt she had. "Oh, oh! If you want, you can come with the next time we go shopping! We'll show you the best places!"

With 'we,' Lola meant herself and Mel. They always went shopping together. And it was totally COSMIC.
