Pleased to meet you. So you were a wizard before arriving here? How does your magic work, if I may ask?

And I shall invite you into my own house, Ravenclaw. I've certainly voted that way quite often lately. I hope I am not growing biased.

We aren't sure. We know what to do with it, certainly. There's casting spells and illusions and fireballs and summoning things from the Dungeon Dimensions but we really have no idea how it works. That's something we've been studying at the University.

*sighs and waves his hand vaguely*

It probably all comes down to quantum.

Incidentally, do you know how the magic here works?

((I fail at explaining Discworld magic.))

((Hey, you explained it enough for me! I can't even explain why 2+2=4. I mean, I know it does... but WHY?))

Uh... well... hmm. You say a few latin phrases and wave a wand around, and then pray for the best.

It probably all comes down to quantum, as well. Or the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.

*Tries to hide her ignorance by sipping tea*

Latin? Is that anything like Latatian?

*digs out a pencil and notebook from a pocket and begins scribbling down notes*

And who're the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?

Oh dear. *Looks around* Is there a priest in residence?

*She sighs but smiles at him* It is... a bit complicated. I shall send you my bible by owl so that you may study it, alright?

And I do not think the two languages are connected.

Oh. A priest.

*stares blankly at his notebook for a moment and jots something down*

So the magic here is caused by gods?

*Looks chagrined as she has to admit defeat*

Truly, I can only suppose. I suggest that you arrange a meeting with one of the professors, or one of our prefects. Professor Dumbledore might know...

Oh. I could, I guess. But I'd hate to bother them. Especially if they're anything like the faculty back at the University.

I find that things are usually best learned through personal experience.

*Nods, then stops. Smiles* Would you consider yourself a very protective person?

I suppose. Any particular reason why?

Not at all. I do wish you will keep in touch. Best of luck for the rest of your interviews.
