Only moments before, Roxas had felt what he could only describe as a warm glow. Something in the back of his mind told him he had become whole, had reunited with his Somebody. Shortly before that, he was having sea-salt ice cream with his best friend

Demyx grinned. "First Axel, now you? Did someone put a Nobody homing beacon in my clothes that just now turned on or something?"

Roxas stared. "Demyx?!" It was Demyx! Finally his face broke into a grin.

"I'm glad to see you!" He blinked as he registered Demyx's words. "Axel is here? Is there anyone else I should be worried about?"

"Yeah, Axel's here, but nobody else." His eyes crossed briefly. "I mean 'nobody' as in 'no one', not... eh, you know what I mean, right? We shouldn't have named ourselves after a pronoun."

Roxas's felt his cheeks strain as muscles that had scowled for too long held his grin. He couldn't help himself, Demyx was exactly as he remembered.

"You ought to take that up with Xemnas, if he ever shows up here. Er, wherever 'here' is." He looked around the room again before turning his gaze on Demyx once more.

"Where exactly is here?"

Demyx shrugged. "You ever get the feeling Xemnas was going off the deep end towards the end, there? I mean, seriously. A heart-shaped moon made of hearts? How's that gonna help? Oh, and here is Hogwarts. Magic school, though there isn't much teaching going on."

Roxas laughed. "I think Xemnas was pretty far gone when I left, so anything that happened after that must have been highly disturbing."

"Hogwarts, huh? Well, at least magic is something that we're used to."

"So, uh... Were you really Sora or was that Xemnas being crazy, too? I never really did understand that part."

"Um.... Yeah, me and Sora were the same. He was my Somebody, you know? The one who lost his heart?" He paused. "I think that we ended up being put back together again, but now I'm here."

"I sort of don't know what happened."

"I figured that once I met him. With the names, and then he looks like you, too. How much sense am I making? And I was dead, so for me, being here's an improvement." He grinned again. "This place seems to have a way of bringing people back."

"This whole thing is sort of... really creepy. And confusing." Roxas paused. "Wait, you DIED?"

"It gets less creepy from here, mostly. A couple of the people here are a little strange, but..." He shrugged. "Yeah, I died. Stood on the wrong end of a Keyblade - why they sent me to try and get you to stop being Sora I don't know. I guess I kind of overdid it. 'Use aggression to liberate his true disposition?' Yeah, right."

So much information.

"Sora killed you?" Roxas looks down, feeling guilty for a reason he can't pinpoint. "He didn't seem like the type to kill people...." His head snaps up and he says hurriedly, "He didn't kill Axel and the others, did he?"

Reassurring time! The problem was, Demyx had never been good at that. "To be fair, I think he only killed me because I attacked him. And I don't think he did it to the others - not that I was there for any of them. I never did figure out what happened at Castle Oblivion, and if anyone else died, they did it after me. I don't think he'd kill anyone without a reason, but some of us were giving him plenty of reasons."

Roxas nodded slowly. That all made sense. He'd had the idea that Demyx was smarter than he let on, and this helped to prove it. Not that he was gonna.... HUG Demyx or anything. It was just. Nice to know.

"I wonder if he did all that stuff after we became whole. I think I missed a lot of really important stuff." Roxas blinked.

"More importantly, what is this sorting business? And what in the world is a Gryffindor?"

"Seems like it. Like I said, I was supposed to make him... start being you instead. Or something."

Exposition time! I need a little tune to play for that. "Uh, basically, you come to the school, and they put you in a House. The four you actually want to be in are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. Gryffindors are brave, Hufflepuffs are loyal - or maybe just friendly, Ravenclaws are smart, and Slytherins are... cunning, I think. Might be ambitious. One of those things."

"Oh. I see." He didn't, but he was hoping he would eventually.

"Which House are you in?" Roxas asked, suddenly worried about being separated from the one person he knew well.
