(( backdated to the end of Ofelia's Sorting.))

Chance promised. She said, I'll stay here until it's over.

She can do that for this little girl. Couldn't do that for her own, but she can for this one.

So she stays until the Hat finishes up. It's been a while. That doesn't matter to her. She hasn't been by the little girl's side the whole time, not even close to the whole time, just hanging back in a corner reading and keeping an ear open. Ofelia, or Princess Moanna if she's that, is a creature unto herself, and she needs to hold court on her own terms. Chance is just there in case anything happens, and to make sure Ofelia doesn't get lost after the Sorting. Even with a piece of magic chalk to make doors, she could get lost. You can do a lot of wandering in these halls.

She leads the girl back to the Ravenclaw dorm, indifferent to the Hat's Gryffindor verdict. Ofelia's fairy flits ahead of them, as if it (she?) already knows the way to Chance's room. Inside there's the bed, wide enough for two people and they'll have to share it until Chance can find a child-sized bed to put in the corner, and there's the desk covered in books, and there are the piles of books stacked in teetering uncertain towers about the floor. That's about it. It's nothing like the kind of place you'd think a child would find comforting, and Chance thinks regretfully of the nursery Deacon had been painting and wallpapering for their baby, the dinosaur alphabet on the walls. That's silly, Ofelia has to be at least nine years old, too old to want a dinosaur alphabet anyway.

"Well," she says, standing in the open doorway with the girl, the fairy already hovering in the middle of the room before them. "This is where I live. Where you live if you want to."
