Ofelia, El Laberinto del Fauno

There is the sound of stone grinding against stone, and then a small section of wall is pushed open as though it was a door, even though there is no door there. A young dark-haired girl richly dressed in red and gold crawls through the new doorway and stands up, grinning as she looks around at the Sorting Room. She has a small brown case slung over ( Read more... )

Ofelia curtsies back, although the curtsey is slightly constrained due to her clothing. "Ofelia, Senorita Bennett. Or Princess Moanna, but I'm more used to Ofelia. My padre's kingdom is the kingdom far below the ground where the fairies and fauns and other fairytale creatures live."

*smiles* Well, it is as likely a story as many of the other applicants recite. I am quite convinced of your sincerity. Do you know where you are, Ofelia?

"Senorita Chance told me this is a magic school called Hogwarts, in Scotland, Senorita Bennet," Ofelia replies, nodding. She's also quite pleased that everyone here believes her, and hasn't told her that she's too old to believe in 'fairytale nonsense.'

That is good, then! Has she explained to you the concept of Houses?

"No, but the other lady told me that there are four Houses, but I'm not sure what Houses are. I don't think she meant houses with four walls and a roof that you live in with your family. She said that people put you in a house so that they know what you're about, and that Gryffindor is for the people who are very brave or heroic or just. That's all I know about the Houses."

The Houses are where one resides the duration of one's stay here at Hogwarts. Gryffindor, as you know, is for the brave, the heroic, or the just. Ravenclaw, where I am prefect, is for the studious or the intelligent. Hufflepuff is for the loyal, though it is also, apparently, for the psychopaths, the pretty girls, and the resident deities. Slytherin is for the cunning, shrewd, or... dubiously moral.

I imagine... Dr.Chase, I believe, voted you to Gryffindor? I have no quarrel with such an assessment. Have you?

"It was actually the lady who first told me about Houses who said Gryffindor. Chase said Ravenclaw. I don't really mind, because Chase said I could live with her no matter which House I ended up in."

Alright. Well, since I am prefect of Ravenclaw, I am partial to it, and thus, I shall vote you there instead. Do enjoy your stay here!

'Gracias, Senorita Bennet,' Ofelia says, giving Lizzy a curtsy.
