Galadriel heard a light humming, and turned to see the new arrival. "Mae Govannon. I am Galadriel, now of House Gryffindor. Are you also of this house?"
*Zel bows deeply.* Yes, I am. I'm Zelgadiss Greywords. Pleased to meet you, milady.
*I can't remember the last time I actually ran into really regal royalty. Let's see ... Amelia, Prince Phil, Phil's relatives, that one princess with the hormone problem... nope. No regality there. Here, on the other hand...*
"I am delighted to meet another of this house. Perhaps you can tell me something of it? I as yet have not found out about how to join classes, or obtain a wand, or anything else beyond meeting the house elves, and asking for clothing."
Galadriel laughed. "I am a bit out of my natural element here. How long have you lived at Hogwarts?"
Penny came down the stairs to the Common Room backwards, her lips pursed as she made kissing sounds. "Come, Tracy. Come on, old girl," she coaxed. The object of her attention was a very small, very white bulldog puppy, eager, panting, and tripping over its own feet in an effort to please. It made its way to its mistress, plopped its little bottom on Penny's toes and grinned up at her, tongue lolling, squirming with pleasure as the elegant blonde chuckled and bent to rub the pup's ears. "Good girl," Penny cooed.
Galadriel had never seen a creature quite like this one before. "Penelope, what manner of creature is this? It seems as if a canine, but I have never seen its like."
Penny whirled at the unexpected voice. "My lady! I did not see you there." Penny scooped up the puppy and brought it over to Galadriel. "This is Tracy. She's an English bulldog - just a baby, this one. I breed them. Or I did. Or will do." Penny shook her head, laughing. "Someday I will work out time travel and tenses."
"She is lovely, Peneleope, really." Galadriel reached out for the wriggling bundle, who promptly wagged its tail and slurped her face with a doggy kiss. "Thank you, Tracy," she said, laughing.
She turned her attention back to Penny. "You say you breed them? For what purpose, other than companionship?" She kissed the puppy again. "The Rohirrim are proud of their bloodlines of horses, descending from the Mearas, a noble race indeed." Tracy, however, looked anything but noble - more adorable, to the elleth's eye.
She handed Tracy back to Penny, and gestured to Zel. "My new friend tells me that owls are of use in this place as messengers. And you have a canine. Are there other animals allowed?"
