OOC: mod announcement! please read!

Sortings
The first thing we'd like to call to your attention: As most players know (because an announcement was made a while back!), when Liz stepped down, responsibility for playing the Sorting Hat passed to the mod team in rotation. Each mod takes a week as Hat. There has been a bit of a misconception that characters should be sorted within three days of application. In fact, Liz's policy was always that the Hat would not enter an application until three days had passed, in order to allow more time for RP between the applicant and other characters; no guarantee of a three-day Sorting ever existed. The current state of the Hat, being passed between three mods (all of whom have full-time jobs -- boo for employment cutting down on RP time), makes it all the less likely that you can expect to be sorted within three days of an application's posting. Upcoming comm-wide events
Our one-year anniversary, bodyswitching courtesy of Kojiro, was loads of fun. Thanks to all of you players for making this comm the lively crackfest it is! The crack doesn't stop there, rest assured. We have some comm-wide activities in store, strictly opt-in as always:
Staff positions
In addition to prefect elections, we need to pay attention to the staff positions currently held. Professor muns, expect to hear from the mods soon. Also, our Hufflepuff Head of House, Mr. Butlertron, has been popcorned, leaving Hufflepuff without a professor character to serve as Head of House. Hufflepuff characters are especially encouraged to apply for Butlertron's former professorship, keeping in mind that staff positions are limited to one per mun (not one per character; e.g., since Stephen Maturin is a professor, Morfin Gaunt Jones can't apply for a professorship as well, because they're played by the same mun).
Damien switches from active mod to technical consultant
Finally, we must bid a fond and grateful farewell to mod-Damien, who has served long and faithfully and whose school schedule makes it impossible for her to continue modding at HH. She'll stay with us as a player and also as technical consultant, which means that we'll still have a pretty pretty layout, but questions about anything not technical in nature should not be addressed to her. Anything and everything else should be addressed to Prima, Cat, and Siri via e-mail.

- In mid-January, nominations and elections for all prefect positions will be held. The last election was in July, and some of our prefects have served since last January, so it's time.
- In late January, there will be one of Roxy's "magical chocolates" RPs, situated at the Tam-Maturin wedding reception which will be open to the school. We've had magical chocolates before, and this will be the same in that the chocolates' varying effects are up to the mun of the player who eats them. (Effects in the past have ranged from turning the eater into a small child, to rendering the eater incapable of communication save in rhyme or song, to transforming the eater into an evil clown.) The difference is that whereas previous chocolates RPs required the character eating the chocolate to be gullible or rash enough to eat food left lying around, these chocolates will seem a plausible part of the refreshments, so basically anyone who'd eat food offered at a professor's wedding can credibly eat these chocolates in good faith. (Cue evil laughter.)
- In February, Tyrion Lannister and Strong Bad will be co-hosting a Valentine's Day bash. Ancillary mod-plot wackiness is under present discussion, so stay tuned.
- Also in February, we will be holding another secrets board, just in time for post-Valentine's-Day confessions.
