*A small spaceship that appears to be made out of cardboard flies into the room. It lands upright on a chair, and the front opens to allow what appears to be a foot-high astronaut out.* I told them I could get that hovercraft motor to work.

Quaxo looked excited. In fact, he was nearly bouncing.

"Can I have a bouncy ball?" he asked hopefully, eyes shining. "I used to have one before, but I've lost it. It'd be nice to have another one."

Sure, just a second. *Buzz rummages around in the ship for a moment before returning with a large superball.* Does this one look good?

Quaxo accepted the toy quite happily and beamed at Buzz. "Oh yeah! Thanks!" He tried it out, and looked quite pleased when the ball bounced, and he caught it again. Perfect! He was going to have lots of fun with this one. He just hoped he didn't hit something fragile. That would be really embarrassing.

"I am bribed!" he declared and pocketed the superball. "Okay, so where do you want to go?" He peered at the little astronaut, and seemed to realise what it was he was talking to. Quaxo had a tendency to do that when he got excited. Huh. He blinked. That was odd. A talking little toy. But kind of fun too. He'd always known toys could talk, and it was nice to have it confirmed.

I think I'd probably fit best in Gryffindor.

I'm Buzz, by the way. Buzz Lightyear. *Buzz holds out a hand.*

"Gryffindor it is!" Quaxo cast his vote without hesitation. He didn't have to ask Buzz if he was a hero or something. Because it was obvious that he was.

The former kitten looked at the offered hand, and then shook it carefully, as if he was afraid he'd break Buzz. "Hullo, Mister Buzz. My name is Quaxo. I'm in Hufflepuff!" He beamed. Yes, Quaxo was all about the badger pride. "It's very nice to meet you. I have never talked to a toy before."

*Buzz decides that it's not going to be so bad here.* Nice to meet you, too, Quaxo.

Not many people have talked to toys. We don't usually let people know we're alive.

He nodded. That sounded reasonable. "I used to be a cat before," he said conversationally. "I didn't talk to people much either. Or, I did, but they couldn't hear me until I got here." There was a moment of thoughtful silence. And then, curiously, "Do toys have magic? Is that why you're here?"

We might have magic; if we need to have magic to learn it then I sure hope we have magic.

"I think so too." Quaxo's eyes were wide and serious when he nodded. "I don't think I would have liked it half as much if people hadn't been able to understand me. That would have made me sad." And he would have pouted.

"I hope you can learn it. Magic is really fun!" Quaxo smiled brightly. "Right, Mister Buzz, I am going to go and play with my bribe now." He gave Buzz a cheerful wave. "If you want someone to show you around later, you can owl me or something, 'kay?"
