Jack kicks back in Gryffindor (open RP for Gryffindors and anyone else who comes along)

Dec 01, 2006 19:29

Jack was sitting by the fire in the Gryffindor common room, dressed in his flannel shirt and jeans, with his two ruined uniforms (one stained with ink, the other stained with grease from his recent unpopcorning) folded neatly at his side. He was poring through a spell book, attempting to find something that would get the stains out. The Scourgify ( Read more... )

Molly, tired but for once free of the Narrator, wandered in from her sword practice sweaty and covered in grass clippings from a badly-executed backflip that had landed her in a shrub. Needless to say, she was more than a little cranky.

"Damn stupid shrubbery," she grumbled, stalking through the common room like an irritated tiger and utterly failing to notice it was occupied. "I'll say 'ni' at it, I really will...."

She halted, frozen in mid-step, and turned. For a long moment she regarded Jack, staring at him as though trying to read the back of his skull.

"...You'd better not be a hallucination," she said, and with that bizarre greeting tackled him, nearly knocking him over as she pulled him into a rib-crushing hug.

Jack was slightly taken-aback at first by the force of Molly's greeting, and then he laughed, hugging Molly in return and planting a kiss on her cheek. "If I am a hallucination, then I am a damned solid one. How good to see you! How goes it with you, my dear?"

She grinned at him, holding him back so she could look at him properly. "Much better, now," she said, electing not to mention her little freak-out in the Great Hall after his popcorning. "Much better." She didn't know how he'd come back, or why, but at the moment she didn't care--it was just good to see him again. And the jeans didn't hurt, either.

"I am sorry if I caused you distress, Molly - I did not mean to leave, but I could do nothing about it. But I am back now, and that is all that matters." He smiled and gave her another kiss on the cheek. "I wore these jeans in the hopes that I might see you," he added slyly.

"It's okay," she said, still grinning. "You're back now, that's what matters. I missed you like hell," she admitted. "And I'm glad you wore the jeans...I missed the jeans, too."

"I missed you too, my dear. Very much so. Oh, do you see - those little blue men have cleaned my uniforms, even the one upon which you spilled that ink in Potions class." Jack displayed the cleaned uniforms. "But I shall keep wearing the jeans when I am with you, if you prefer it."

She shook her head ruefully at the mention of the ink--jeeze, she'd been on top form that day, tripping and spilling everything. "I like the jeans, but I like the uniform, too," she said. "Maybe wear the uniform on, er, special occasions?" Lowering her voice slightly, she tipped him a wink. "Maybe show it off when I show you my Kendra costume?"

"That sounds like a capital idea," Jack said, grinning. "Oh, and my friend Stephen is helping me to acquire a boat which I might sail on the lake. Should we manage to accomplish this, would you like to go sailing with me?"
