This was not being a good day.
Devi had, as far back as she could remember, been periodically cursed with days like this. The world seemed to fade and flatten, as though an invisible but unbreakable barrier separated her from everything. She couldn't feel--numbness enveloped her like a glove, a numbness that insulated not just against emotion, but against physical sensation as well. She didn't know if she was asleep or awake, and, perhaps more frightening, she wasn't sure she cared.
-You're crazy, you know.-
Shut up.
She couldn't stay in here any longer. She'd been puttering around the STFU suite all day, picking things up and putting them right back down, starting books and pictures and projects only to abandon them after five minutes. She couldn't sit still, when she was like this, but neither could she focus on anything long enough to even half-complete it. Nny's room was suddenly sounding like a very good idea...
...so off she went, knocking lightly on the door and shifting restlessly from foot to foot.
