Closed RP - Sam and Rory

Nov 28, 2006 04:11

Sam had still needed to talk to the Divination professor and see what he could find out about his visions now that he no longer resembled snack food and had found his brother, but even he needed a break after the events of the last week.

He knew long weeks, and this one definitely qualified. As such, he wandered a little looking for Ravenclaw, ( Read more... )

Rory had gone straight from the sorting room to the library. Rory was drawn to books like a proton to an electron, and a library as big as that girl Lily had claimed it was? well. The temptation was too great. Besides. This was a new school. A new subject. She'd been brushing up on everything else for twenty years. She was way behind on the whole magic thing.

But she also knew how important it could be to make friends when in a new and strange place. And she'd heard there was a bar, so after she'd gathered as many books as she was confident she could read in the next couple days, rory made her way down to it.

and if the fact that she was carrying a stack of books or reading while she walked would keep people from talking to her... well, it was a shame. but she couldn't say she'd be disappointed. not yet anyway. in a couple days when she took a second to breathe and realized she didn't know anyone, then it would bother her.

but as luck would have it, Rory couldn't keep her nose in a book. Or a book in her hand, or her feet on the floor, as she crashed into someone's back, from lack of looking where she was going, and hit the floor.

"Ow"

She certainly couldn't say she didn't have that one coming, at least.

Ow. Sharp corners in his back and an unceremonious shove forward was never a good sign, and Sam spun on his heel ready to kick something in the ass. Instead, it turned out to be the cute smart girl from the Sorting room, already somewhat laid out on her ass. Safe bet she wasn't a threat.

He offered her a hand up, genuinely concerned. "Hey- are you ok?"

"Sorry. Sorry. Sorry."

She apologized in a rather flustered manner as she attempted to gather her books up under one arm, before using the other to accept the hand up. She did manage a bit of a smile when she saw who it was. At least she hadn't taken a spill in front of a complete stranger. He'd seemed nice enough at her sorting. Even if he... supposedly hunted demons. And, you know, looked almost exactly like her very first ever(and, okay, technically third, too) boyfriend.

"Oh, hey, yeah, I'm fine, Dea..."

Closing both eyes, she winced before letting one pop back open.

"Sam. Sorry. Old habits. Are you okay?"

It was Sam's turn to wince, playing it for a laugh rather than emo. "That's good, yeah. 'Cause I think I'm more wounded by the name than the bumping." He bent to pick up a book she'd missed with a smile. "I'm gonna have to look up this Dean guy now, you know."

"You and Dean? I don't know. It might be like that episode of The X Files. You know, the one with Kathy Griffin, and the doppelgangers, and then everyone starts fighting?"

Rory paused for a moment, waiting for him to respond. But it was a very, very short moment.

"Well. You should watch it. Kathy Griffin in two different roles in one episode of one show. It's a d-list devotee's dream."

Font of pop culture knowledge, and the ability to share that knowledge with others at a mile a minute. certain behaviors certainly can be inherited.

"Were you going to the bar?"

"X-files, huh?" said Sam as he scratched the back of his neck, speaking sort of offhand. "Never was into the aliens so much. Stuff already around here's what's dangerous." Oh yeah, no - he's not creepy at all.

Cover! Sam cracked a grin. "Bar! Yeah. I've been meaning to head down here for a while." Since before the popcorn incident, actually. "You?"

"Well, just that one episode."

She admitted, holding out her free hand, palm up

"Uh. Right."

Moving on. So he was a little weird. There were other...weirder things around here. At least he human. and, you know, from this century. And..well, the list goes on. What was important was that he was nice. And cute. And Oh, God, was it creepy, that she thought he was cute? It had to be. It even crept her out a little.

"Yeah, I was. Being sociable. Its that way?"

She pointed. Could be. That was the direction she'd been heading in. But..you know, clearly she hadn't actually been watching where she'd been going.

Sam looked down, infinitely amused, and yet gratified that she hadn't at least made an excuse to run off. "Honestly? I have no idea. I was hoping I'd get to the general vicinity and figure it out then."

"Wait - don't you live here now? Or, around here, at least?"

((OOC: I am so, so sorry. my internet crapped out yesterday. Respond whenever you can, and I'll buy you a cake that will sing you to sleep with lovely cursive tunes.))

"Well we're in the vicinity. Get figuring!"

she replied with mock impatience, holding her hand out in front of her in a manner that can only suggest 'lead the way'. She smiled and let her expression melt into... Okay, something tha ws maybe a little proud. Its not like getting into Ravenclaw had been harder than getting into Harvard, or Princeton, or Yale. I hadn't even come close. But there was still a sense of accomplishment. There was something so appealing to her about having gotten into the nerd House. One thing she'd learned long ago, after all, was to wave her nerd flag with pride.

"Well yeah. but I've been in the library all day. So I haven't actually been there. Well, here yet."

Holding up her books a little, as best she could manage, as if to prove she'd been with the books all day. It was true.

"I take it you don't? What house are you in?"
