Lizzy is Distressed: Owls

Nov 27, 2006 03:24

The letter is smudged in several places, and very hastily written. The signature is almost illegible from tear-stains.

Mel-
I beg your forgiveness, (the rest of the line is obscured by an ink spill)
You were right about Mr. Darcy. Please, may I speak with you? I have never felt so wretched in my life.
-Lizzy

This letter was written with equal haste, and there is an ink spill on the other side of the letter. The lines are difficult to read from the random tear-stains that have caused the ink to run.

Simkin-

This evening I received
Are your intentions
I have never felt so wretched
Forgive me, but you once said that should I ever be in need of rescue from Mr. Darcy, I need but call. I have... escaped from him myself, but I should very much like to talk with you. I am... bewildered to say the least, and I could very much use your company.
-Lizzy Elizabeth Bennet

This letter is a bit neater, though the hand is shaky, and there is an inkspill at the bottom of the page.

Lily-
Please forgive my forwardness and impertinence for writing, but at my Sorting, you asked me to owl you if I had any questions. I do confess, I have several, and though it is doubtful that you could answer them, I should like to discuss them with you nonetheless. You said something at your Sorting which lead me to believe that you understood something of love. Pray owl me back at your earliest convenience.

Are you acquainted with Mr. Darcy?
-Elizabeth Bennet
