I have never found anything that picked up so many thoughts and points of discussion with my daughter A. (28, grown up on HP, now a teacher) and all of these rolled in a beautifully composed story. Just wonderful!
Just recently we had talked about Colin Creevy, who in my daughter's opinion should have gotten much more credit for being a true friend of Harry - if he would have stayed as ghost at Hogwarts at the point of his death, giving his love for the place.... and now I got to read that, indeed, he did. I have to send a copy of this story to A.!
And the point of the curriculum not being too helpful for life on one's own after graduation.... About time the subjects they thing of in your story were added! I always hoped it was happening on the side, not being told in the books (PE, arts/crafts, literature...), but that is not very likely...
And Mme Malkin's helpful invention!! And, of course, Harry's idea of a true COMMON room.
I could go on and on.... The relationship between Minerva and Snape's portrait is so promising, too, and a relief to know they are on such terms, his teasing her for being late for the meeting :-)).
Outstanding in every way!!

It's a personal frustration of mine that I just don't think my school prepared me for life as an adult, so anything I can do to prepare our beloved characters better is always a good thing for me. The friendships of adults is something else we miss from Harry's POV, I always thought (and perhaps your daughter would agree!!) that the humans that give so much of their lives to teaching little toerags would be more generous to each other than their students realise.
Thanks for such a thoughtful and lovely review!
