the pity of strangers

sorry but this has really got my goat and I know it was meant in a nice way...

Last night just as I was half way through a bottle of red wine enjoying a cigar and about to start watching a movie there was a ring at the door.. It was the teenage daughter of the nice family next door and her friend, could they borrow a bottle of coke as they had run out of mixers :) Sure no problem I gave them a bottle and we exchanged good wishes as it was christmas night.

back I go to the movie and two minutes later the door goes again. Are you alone!! asks the teenage girl. Yes says me, Dad says why don't you come over for a bit. I thank her and say its very sweet but really I am fine and I am ok. The look of pity on her face, for the poor lonly guy next door really got by back up, but I was pleasent and I went back to my movie.

In the three years I have lived here I have never been invited in to theres (except to house sit for them and them for me) why because its christmas day does everyone have to have company?

I had a great evening yesterday and really did not need to be with anyone. The one person I wanted to be with could not be here but thats not a problem I know he was thinking of me. But its this whole false concern that got me espcially from a teenage girl whos hardly lived yet.

Grumpy old poof part two .... LOL
