ugh... is everyone this week just plain retarded?
a friend of mine decided to finally get into Mad Men and texted me today stunned about the blatant racism of the 60's and my intitial response to him was "um... have you ever opened up history book, it's common knowledge."
and he got kind of pissy about it. He's not a dumb guy but sometimes the shit he says just stuns me with the ignorance. he responded about having read about it but seeing it, on a fictional tv show no less, was different. I was like thinking "you've got to be kidding me" and was like "just because it takes place in the north doesn't mean it wasn't bad."
again I got a pissy response of "I know that toots, time to step off your high horse."
now he was just asking for a shit storm. I asked him "do you even have any black friends, anyone close enough that you consider family? anyone that lived in south side when it was mostly middle to upper class white people? go to a nursing home and make some friends you'll learn more there than you ever will opening up a history book."
I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back because he flipped out, and I almost laughed at his response, "my dad's best friend is black" amongst other bullshit. Including but not limited to listening to stories from his grandma. He told me I've been real pissy lately and that he didn't want to talk to me anymore and that he's not fucking stupid so I should probably stop treating him like he is. No real loss there. I thought about not responding for a moment and then sent him a message consisting of: "I was referring to you... not your dad, and I was referring to speaking to older people you aren't related to, it's a completely different story when you're talking to someone you have no expectations of. I'm sorry if you think I'm being pissy or bitchy for responding to what comes off as a pretty fucking stupid comment. You don't want to talk to me... fine, no real loss there I have more important shit going on that is more important than indulging into your texts."
What pisses me off was I listened to his bullshit and whining when he broke up with his girlfriend but when other guys break up with their gfs and post upset status updates online he'd text me and bitch about these other guys. Guys I'm friends with, guys that he's clearly jealous of because I've hooked up with them and not him. Guys he gets bitchy about because they're good looking dudes and doesn't understand that just because these are good dudes doen't mean they can be upset about getting dumped under shitty circumstances like them.
Get the fuck over yourself. Especially if you're going to make a passive agressive status update on facebook. Like what the fuck?
It's clear he only listens when the subject is about him because holy fucking shit I used to consider him a good enough friend to confide in and tried several times to explain what's been going on with my grandfather but holy shit did he just ignore those texts like the plague. Like fuck you asshole. I hope you get ass cancer.
