Montreal Trip (long!)

Copied and pasted from my other journal cause I'm lazy...

My trip to Montreal was the best! It's so awesome there.

Monday: We left at 10:30 and even though it was supposed to take six hours to get there, we didn't arrive until around 6:30 because of traffic and stopping on the way. We checked into our hotel in Laval and my brothers and my mom took naps while my dad and I went to dinner. We found a cool restaurant nearby. I was going to order for us in French and I understood the menu, but my dad jumped in there with English and I felt bad for not trying. That probably doesn't make sense. Anyway, I went to sleep once we got back because I was dead since I hadn't slept at all the night before.

Tuesday: I woke up really early at 5:30 so I just lied around for a little bit then my dad and I went to Tim Horton's. I love that place! We also got some snacks at a little convenient store and I discovered Doritos bags with Martin Brodeur on the cover! How awesome is that? I wish Doritos bags here had hockey players on them! I don't like Doritos, but of course we bought some anyway, lol. When we got back, everyone else wanted to go to a restaurant across the street for breakfast, but I was fine with my Tim Horton's, so I stayed at the hotel. After that, my dad, Brent, and I spent a while searching around Laval and Montreal for sports memorabilia places. My dad got a Team Canada jersey, Brent got a Canada volleyball (he plays volleyball), and I got a really nice Devils picture frame. It was cool talking to the guy at one of the stores about hockey. I love Canadians! Then we went back to the hotel and we all headed back to Montreal for a tour of McGill University. The tour was fun and it didn't hurt that the guide was hot, lol. I thought the campus was really pretty. I liked how they said admission is based more on numbers- no essays and you don't even have to send recommendations. Of course my parents loved that it would only be I think $7,000 a year for tuition and room and board for me since I'm a Canadian citizen. But who knows, I have a while to decide about all that. Shortly after we got to the hotel, we had to rush back out and go to the Bell Centre. My dad surprised me and bought better tickets. They were club seats, so they were in the six rows that were right above the first level. I loved the seats and we had Marty at our end twice. We also got free food because of the tickets. Before the game, I got a Canada hat, plus one for Emily, and a World Cup puck. The actual game was great, too. Ah, how I missed hockey! Martin St. Louis scored late in the first with Nieds assisting, woo! Canada scored again in the second, so it was 2-0 with a goal from Sakic, but then Guerin scored. That made it 2-1 and that ended up being the final score. But in the second period, one of the USA players ran into Marty and Nieds stook up for him by fighting Halpern! He lost, but it was still a good fight for Nieds considering he definitely isn't the enforcer type. For the whole game the crowd was just crazy! I love the atmosphere. When Canada scored, just wow. Singing the Canadian anthem was cool, too, and it sounded like everyone in the crowd was singing along. You couldn't even hear the actual anthem singer. It was awesome! Then after the game, there were a bunch of people in the street yelling and cheering. They were even walking down the street and high fiving people in their cars. What an amazing time!

Wednesday: We woke up kinda early and went to McDonald's for breakfast, but I didn't have anything. We went to the Olympic Park after that and it was so cool! First, we went on the funicular. You go up on this thing that's like a cable car on the outside of the Olympic Tower and up to an observatory. The view was amazing. Once we went back down, my mom and I pretty much bought out the gift shop, lol. I got a Montreal sweatshirt, coasters with pictures of Montreal on them (my mom is crazy about me using them in my room), a book about Montreal with pretty pictures, a little thing of paper that has a picture of Montreal on each piece (one for Emily too), a keychain of the Quebec liscence plate with "Gina" on it, a Montreal magnet, a Canada magnet, Canada pens, and a miniature statue thing of the Olympic Tower and Stadium. Do you think we got enough? LOL. So, after we finally finished shopping, we went to the Insectarium. It was gross, but cool at the same time. They had models of beautiful butterflies, so that helped with all of the gross bugs, lol. Then we went to the Chinese Garden and I thought it wasn't going to be that interesting, but it was beautiful! We went to the Japanese Garden, too, but I didn't see much of that since we didn't have time. So, we got back to the hotel and just hung around for a while before my parents, Brent, and I headed out for the Canada vs. Slovakia game. Brent and I sat together and our seats were a lot better than I thought they would be. We were in the third row of the 300 level, but because of the club level, it's really like the ninth row of the second level. They were good, except for the ghetto seats, lol. There weren't any arm rests and instead they just had bars in front of you and behind you. The game was a lot of fun, Canada won 5-1! Ryan Smyth had two goals and Simon Gagne, Martin St. Louis, and Joe Thornton had the others. Marty Brodeur got the star of the game, woo! He made some nice saves, but I thought Smyth would get it. The Canada fans were going crazy after the game again. It was so much fun to see!

Then we had to leave on Thursday, so sad, lol. I absolutely loved Montreal! Everything about the city and my trip there was just awesome!

Man, if you read all that, you deserve a cookie or something, lol.
