Ok, so Fic Challenge Destination Anywhere
Starts: Now. get cracking.
Due September first, 2006.

The basics:
why road trip
Mae said "idea's, ummm road trip?" and I went "road trip!". The road trip is a classic if it is planned (like two best friends going on a trip they always wanted) to the totally unplanned, like getting woken up to find Ilya on your doorstep at one am despite the fact he lives in Atlanta and you live in Columbus (or Ottawa) and him begging you to come for a drive. (this is also totally being done)
Some people have roof-racks full of stuff, some people just have their wallets and a bottle of water they grabbed off the bench when they left.
Sometimes you have a map, sometimes you get to a crossroads and flip a coin.
Driving is hypnotizing. At the same time that you are lulled into thinking nothing you brain can be going faster than the wheels.
Also, road trips can be fucking funny. Like driving around and having your photo taken next to the giant carrot. or the giant rabbit. Or the giant donut. You can stop in the middle of some podunk town you will never go back to and take a dip in the local fountain since it is so damn hot. If anyone has this planned, I request white t-shirts. Or skin.
who
as long as one person plays hockey (NHL, AHL WHL, College league, Women's League)it's ok. Or if they have in the past played hockey that is also ok. So if you have ever wanted to write Madonna / Mark Messier on her tour bus, now is the time. If you have ever wanted to write Michael Rosenbaum / Todd Bertuzzi (I will so beta) driving through the rainy BC countryside to a golf tournament now is the time :)
Given the nature of hockey fic one participant is probably a real person, (unless you pick a character from a book, or say the mighty ducks movies, or on the edge, or mystery alaska or something), but that doesn't mean the other has to be. If you want to write Jordin Tootoo in the Metallicar with one (or both!) of the Winchester boys from Supernatural I will beg you for NC-17 and stop drooling long enough to read it. (Sam and Dean are looking for someone stealing native artifacts, Jordin thinks they are both idiots and yet there is an undeniable attraction, he takes them to visit his family, Dean insists on driving, Jordin thinks he's an idiot and yet there is an attraction...)
who part two
a road trip can be taken by only one person. It could someone driving down memory lane, going somewhere new to start the next part of their life, someone driving away from the past. Fleeing the past in some cases. (which reminds me, where is Lira?) Just because it looks like it is only Steve Yzerman driving down route 66 in a classic American thunderbird listening to jukebox hits 1956-1960 we all know there are a few people in that car taking that trip with him.
When
the off-season. Has to be summer is the only rule here. it can be set now (Sidney Crosby and Jordan Staal drive from toronto to thunder bay, or more likely AWAY from thunder bay) it can be old school, Bobby Hull driving through Chicago reflecting on his wasted life. It can be future fic as well.
Where?
anywhere in the world (known or unknown for sci fi fans who want to write a hockey/stargate x-over) as long as it is on the land and one of the people involved is driving. Cars, tour bus, camper van. So no trains (sorry, but you know I'll be "cool!" and beta if yo want a train fic) and no planes. Exception is for a boat, want to write a fic of Brendan Morrisson and Trent Klatt taking a boat trip around the rainy vancouver islands? I'll beta and someone better do that. Say Em, who hasn't yet signed up.
where part 2
how long is a road trip anyway? As long as one person gets in the car and it is in motion, it's a trip. So from Alaska to Mexico, or from your garage to the street.
rating
The G-ist of the gen, if you want to write a buddy road trip I so want to read it. If you want to write lovers with an NC-17 rating writhing around on the the leather (look) seats after pulling over to look at the view. Slash, het (ohhh het!), threesomes, f/f slash, any other fandom terms I missed? PWP? crack!fic? AU? I would love AU, like on the run from the law? making it to Mexico? A hitchhiker fic? Why didn't I pimp a hitchhiker fic sooner? I would love that (and I'll totally beta)

If anyone needs any general hand holding, an idea for a half finished fic, a beta, a rant, an idea, a pairing, a song to work from (song fic! someone do some fic!) you have ME! yes! 'cest, squick, gangbang, schmoop, het, threesome, bdsm (don't come knocking if this van is a rocking..... sorry had to use that once), I will promise a fast beta turnaround (please don't all send them on the day before) and gibbering fb.
