Third Eye Blind

I'll start off my most recent journal entry by speaking about Third Eye Blind. My ultimate passion in music. What I like about them is the stuff they hadn't released. The stuff that no one knows about, for example their demos and instrumentals. "Carnvial Barker" is their ultimate instrumental that only hardcore 3eb fans know about. I have introduced "Carnival Barker" to Adri, Hollie, basically everyone because of the depth it carries with just guitar, bass and the 3eb speciality. Their lyrics to other songs have a lot of strength to them. Stephen Jenkins writing style has a metaphoric tone to the songs reality. Which is somewhat similar to my poetic writing style.

Adri's fav of song of 3eb is "Slow Motion" becuase of it's lyrics. "Slow Motion" was made into a instrumental for their second album because their label decided that the lyrics were too contervertial. "Mrs.Jones taught me english but I think I just shot her son", the song is basically making a point that no matter what an artist or band writes in a song its a form of expression. The example of that was when the columbine shootings happened and they blamed Marilyn Manson which wasn't right. So "Slow Motion" was the result of that happening. It's musical tone is a gentle rock lullaby. But it's personally too soft for me. My favourite 3eb tracks would be these "Thanks A Lot", "Losing a Whole Year", "God of Wine", "Knife In The Water (instrumental)", "Scattered (Demo)", "Good For You", "Graduate", "Burning Man".

Everybody knows Third Eye Blind with "Semi-charmed Life" (do do do, do do do doodoo), "Hows It Going To Be", "Jumper", etc. But those songs were really commercial that I lost a connection with it cuz Those songs don't have the hard rock 3eb style, but a pop rock 3eb sound.
