Mentally stuck in the mud

I'm working from home today... partly due to being kept up half the night by a wonky smoke alarm, and partly because I had no meetings scheduled and therefore no pressing need to be in the office. Problem is, although I have a ton of work to do, today I just... can't... get... moving.

I should be chugging through some heavy-duty software-writing, which is the thing that I typically enjoy the most at my job but don't get to do enough of. And for some reason I just can't get into it today. I'm not feeling distracted by fun stuff at home... I'm sitting at my desk staring at my work computer, but the coding just isn't happening. SO frustrating!

As for the wonky smoke alarm, the one in my bedroom went off for about 10 seconds around 3:15 this morning, then shut itself off. Woke me up, of course. I checked the house looking for any sign of fire/smoke. Nothing. Went back to bed. 20 minutes later, it did it again, so I did another house check. Nothing again. Since there's another one in the hallway about 10 feet away that was NOT randomly going off, I went ahead and took the battery out and went back to sleep.

So now I need to figure out what the deal is. I don't think it's just the battery, because that's usually indicated by an annoying intermittent chirp, not a full-on 10 seconds of alarm. I'm 95% sure that it's not a carbon monoxide thing, 'cuz I'm that certain that this is just a smoke detector and not a combination smoke/CO thing. Hmmm...
