"Zizou! Zizou!"
"only" one week late, the pictures from the France 98 vs Random European Team game!
We were almost in the center of the field, second row but opposite to the... I don't know what the name in English is, the stand where all the officials and press are and the tunnel where the players come out from. It was a very warm day (got unexpected tan lines, fml), maybe the warmest in August (ugh the weather sucks this summer) but during the first half we had sunlight right into our eyes, which was annoying and made it difficult to take good pictures.
The teams were the 1998 World Champion France team (+ a few others who didn't actually win the cup but 16 of the 22 champions made it!) and random European players (the most famous one was Edgar Davids who actually got his eye surgery in our city years ago).
BEFORE THE GAME
first they introduced my team's (FC Nantes, whose stadium was hosting the event) new jersey by making our former players wear it, which was really cool
they all started their career with us (arriving in the club at age 13-15)

those two were very popular too as Deschamps used to play here and Blanc is the new French NT coach
staff of the European team, including 2 former French NT coaches (Michel, who coached the 1984 Olympics team - and later the main NT - and Hidalgo, who coached the 1984 Euro Champions)
there's also the new NT doctor in there, who used to be FC Nantes' doctor and it's thanks to him (and my brother who knows him via his work) that I got a football signed by the 2001 French Champions ^^

we even got the "National Anthems"! They played Ode To Joy for the European Team hehe and then La Marseillaise

Barthez actually played for us... and left in really weird circumstances, pretending he was ~in danger~, it was all very ridiculous, especially when you know that our fans are so tame that we're one of the 3 stadiums in France (including Stade de France which has no home team) that doesn't have any fence or pit to separate supporters and field. Truth is he was doing poor performances and was looking for an excuse.
ANYWAY...

I got nice shots of Liza as he was on our side during the 1st half and I thought "my girls are gonna be happy with this"

Davids was really fast and energetic for a guy who stopped his career 2 years ago!
after 20 min Guivarc'h was substituted for Trézéguet who got a lot of applause

PS: forgot to mention the 3 random guys who jumped out of the stands and ran on the field, 1st two during the game and the last one at the end he went to see Zidane who gave him his shin pads, ridiculous behaviour, shouldn't have given them to him.
