Slipping this in on the appropriate day, although it is perhaps not what was intended...
However, this is a plotbunny I have had for a very long time, and this is perhaps as good an occasion as any to unleash it.

Who'd have thought Sam taking the Ring could be so schmoopy? :D Piece of cake! (He should have still saved the dust for the Shire, the nana, but at least Frodo didn't lose his finger.)

That was a charmer!

Heh. Trust me, I can make anything schmoopy.

Sam is such a softie - he figures the Shire can get along on its own, but this place definitely needs a bit of help. You can expect the gaffer to have a few choice words regarding his lack of foresight, but I suspect Frodo (possessing all ten fingers, thankyouverymuch) will ease the sting.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I've been avoiding most of the stories in this challenge--just not in the mood for dark and depressing right now, thank you. But you promised angst-free, so I plunged in!

Smoopy indeed! How right that Sam was generous enough to share his gift with the denizens of Mordor.

Thank you for a happy alternative!

*gives a guilty glance towards the ever-patient mods - may the hair on their toes forever flourish!*

Why ever else would Sam have wanted to create a garden in Mordor, though, other than a concern about the lack of veggies in those poor orcs' diets?

Thank you!

It's almost like the Ring acted as a love charm...:-) *grin*

Yes, it seems to add that je ne sais pas, you know.

"Why, Sam. You are absolutely spot on about the lack of fiber in their diets." *bats eyes prettily*

Thanks! *snickers subversively*

I must admit, I could never imagine Sam as an effective Dark Lord, given that his idea of power was to turn everything into a garden. I mean, how bad would it have been? Too much grass and no lawnmowers? Compulsory vegetarianism for orcs?

Thank you for a light-hearted take on the theme! Not devious--merely whimsical.

Heh, you are absolutely right. It is quite difficult to imagine the bringing forth of fruit (at least in the apples-and-plums sense) of being inherently evil.

Of course, the orcs might have had a slightly different take on the matter. "Dear [Dark] Lord, rutabaga again? Can't the bloody hobbit ever give root vegetables a rest?"

Thank you, and glad you enjoyed it!
