Film Review

Greetings and Salutations!!

Last night I wanted to go to the movies SO BADLY!!   And of course, Alex was beating down my door - so I gave in (what's the difference, after this month I'll probably never see him again).   Although, I was a little caught off guard when he asked me to send for him to move in with me after I get settled in.   ::Retrieves Interdimensional Hammer from
mingpagoda to whap him -and me- on the head::

Anyway, I didn't care what I saw, I just needed to sit in front of a giant film screen.   And so I did.   Since PIRATES III doesn't come out until the 25th - and obviously HARRY POTTER V is still a long way off; I let him choose.   He selected THE CONDEMNED.   I'd not heard of it but he gave me the plot basics and it was fine.

So I sat past the preshow and then previews and all was just ducky.   Close-up on my shocked and confused face when I saw the feature presentation bring up the phrase "A WWE Production."   I panned my head slowly to look at the avid wrestling fan near me (I did put a seat in between us) and he grinned.
What?
Something you forgot to mention?
Oh, yeah - this movie stars Stone Cold Steve Austin.

I just glared and didn't hit him; mainly because before moving a seat away I had tried to move my arm and already inadvertently elbowed him really hard in the face.   I SWEAR IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!!

Anyway, the film really wasn't that bad.   The basic premise is that a showbiz tycoon collects 10 convicts on death row from around the world and puts them on an island set to kill each other and then airs it on the internet.  Last man or woman alive wins.   Yikes.   But it had a serious message reguarding Violence in the Media, which I really had to admire.   The fact that this message was delivered by the WWE leaves a strange flavor in my mouth however.

I recommend you check it out for yourself.  Lots of action; the right amount of sexual content (none, really); an okay plot; semi-okay acting; etc.

I give it 4 cinema penguins out of 5.
