SHOW.
I know there's been people complaining about the slow build-up, but honestly? LOVED IT FROM START TO FINISH. From Bobby FINALLY calling Dean on what a little bitch he was being (understandably, but someone needed to say it), to Dean's Green Room/Heaven of hamburgers where he chooses to break stuff, to the stuff with Sam and hesitating from killing that nurse - oh god, that fake message from Dean KILLED ME - and, EEEEE, Azazel (sorry nuns) and the reveal of angels being as huge jackasses as we all expected, and CASTIEL AND DEAN DYNAMIC WORLD-SAVING DUO, and then the end, oh god the end, SAM'S EYES TURNED BLACK, and Dean is THERE but he's just too far away, AGAIN, it's the end of series 2 all over again, AND RUBY RUBY RUBY (suddenly Uriel!Ruby seems strangely prescient) being SO FUCKING AWESOME before catching terrible case of ded, and LUCIFER IS RISING AND THE APOCALYPSE IS FUCKING NIGH, AND THE BOYS ARE BACK TOGETHER, AND AND AND
*breathes*
It was also strangely reminiscent of a story I wrote, like, 2 years ago, where Jesus broke out of Hell (long story) to bring about the Apocalypse, so he could get the powers of the Second Coming to destroy God, and create paradise on earth. Oh well, at least I never have to worry about publishing it and getting bombed by Christian fundamentalists any more.
Azazel, you magnificent bastard, you've been playing a VERY long game. And Ruby, even if this does feel a little bit added-on and not entirely fitting with her first season character (wasn't she willing to sacrifice herself in Jus In Bello? Was that all just a ploy to get Sam to kill the receptionist and take that extra step along to the dark side?) it's nice to have a strong female character on Supernatural. Even if she IS planning the Apocalypse. She should really meet Bellatrix Lestrange some time.
So... why didn't the knife work on Alistair, when it worked on Lilith? Lilith is way older and more powerful, right?
LALALALALA I DON'T REALLY CARE I'M JUST SO GLEEFUL WITH THAT EPISODE. BOBBY SURVIVED! THE BOYS ARE BACK TOGETHER! THERE WAS CASTIEL WALL-SLAMMING AND EYEFUCKING AND SACRIFICING "LIFE" TO FACE OFF WITH THE ARCHANGELS!!
So I wonder what the angels' ultimate plan for Dean was? Because I'm thinking next season, in contrast to this season with both sides manipulating the boys every which way, is going to be the boys sticking firmly together and not taking crap from ANYONE. Even though both Heaven and Hell are still going to be after both of them. CAN WE SAY EPIC???
ETA: Sudden thought. Poor Lucifer. All those millennia in imprisonment, then who's gonna be waiting for him when he gets out? THE WINCHESTER BOYS. And they're gonna be PISSED. I wouldn't blame him if he bout-turned and dashed back into his cell.
Also, what Zachariah said, about only the higher-ups knowing about this, or they'd have 'a full scale rebellion' on their hands? That's what I think's going to happen - I think the rest of the angels are going to rebel, and it'll be Castiel (and maybe Anna, if she's still alive) leading them against Zachariah and the archangels. And I think that'd be AWESOME.
